Default DIY Cold air intake the CHEEEEEEEEEP way

What do you get when you take a few feet of old pool hose, a 1.5 Dia. drill and a hack saw to your miata??? Well it gives the air box a nice shot of cold(er) air and looks something like this, and cost me absolutly nothing.

So, why both hoses? Why not just one or the other?

I used wet/dry vac hose and (if I recall correctly) a 2.5" hole saw. Painful to do.
