hey everyone just wondered is there a cheaper way of turbocharging a mx5 (miata) such as taking parts from another car can some one help me with this ?

Yes. A lot of people have T25 turbos off SR20DET Nissans and coil over plugs from Chevys and Toyotas. A lot of things are going to be miata specific though.

The exhaust manifold and downpipe are pretty miata-specific, but most everything else can be found at a junkyard or generic ebay stuff. Engine management excluded.

I have heard of this option, but I didn't know if anybody had actually gotten it to work or if it was worth it over megasquirt.

I was just giving you a hard time 18. he pretty much said its only worth it if you already have the DSM stuff laying around and already have the knowledge base for them.

Mine is also running on it along with a matching engine harness. Works great. I'm using an engine management software with the ecu called ECMLink (so is underdog) and it's every bit as versatile and easy to set up as MS. You'll need an eprom ecu from an early 1g turbo DSM/GVR4 or '95 turbo DSM. You could probably get away with the more typical non-eprom ecu since it's already set up to manage a turbocharged engine, you'd just have to set up some sort of logger to monitor things.

That ought to work. You can use EVOscan to remap it and log everything. Tons of support for it online. Just don't forget the grab the harness plug with it to make an adapter.
