Default think my turbo may finally be toast....

went to the drag strip last night.....

and today on the way home I have this Cricket sound coming from the turbo area.....

and I open the hood and there is a bolt missing from the compressor housing, another one vibrating loose... and some oil around where the compressor meets the center section.....

I'm pulling the downpipe and intake filter to check for shaft play in the morning..... I wouldn't be suprised to find some messed up blades on the turbo...... F'in great!

he's saying that the housing came loose and the blades contracted the housing. not a good thing generally.

ok, compressor wheel looks OK.... tightened the bolt that was loose, and will be picking up another bolt today or tomorrow. Won't be driving the car till I do

I didn't pull the downpipe to play with the turbine side at all because everything is tight back there

everything still spins freely, and there is very minimal side to side shaft play, 0 forward and back play....

I think I may replace it anyway just to be safe and because I'm paranoid as ****

I think that the oil on the center section was a fluke.... as I can't find a leak

I'm just freakin confused about all this now :(

the bolt is on the outside and i doubt it got in there i dunno anything about garret turbos does your compressor realy just fall apart like that sounds like shity quality. the sound you heard might have been a fluke the oil might be a blown seal, if i where you i would look at the housing to see if contact was made then if not just replace the oil seal and drive on.
