Default Another oil cooler thread, keep the stock oil cooler?

Well I got an oil cooler setup, including setrab 8x8" oil cooler and -10an fitting/lines, and mocal sandwhich plate with a thermostat. Now the question is what I should do with a stock oil cooler/heater plate, I want to just ditch it. But it has a long thread sticking out when you take it off, can I just cut it? I don't know if you na guys have the same cooler or not.

I would just leave it in or else there will probably be fitment issues with the sandwich plate and lines. Besides, it'll help the oil warm up faster.

If there's room leave it there to avoid the hassle of removing it. Otherwise you can find a short threaded rod for another Mazda engine and then pull the cooler. Cutting it works too (I've done it). But it's not going to hurt anything leaving it there. I have a short rod - wanna swap?

I removed mine - two less connections on the coolant circuit (and they are a$$ to get to) and it stops the coolant getting so hot on the street and on the track in my experiance. Increased warmup time is negligible - maybe 1 minute ?
The threaded rod is removable - just get two M20 nuts and lock them together, then spin it out of the block. The 1.6 rod fits straight in

Thanks for the replyes. I have to take it out because of fitment issues with a somewhat fat mocal sandwich plate, and I'll just have my friend cut off the threads to fit, easier than looking for a new rod. Now fitting -10an lines should be fun, hehe.
