Default Help with EGT Probe

I posted this in miata.net. I basically just need advice about where to find the fitting and any pointers of obvious stuff I am forgetting. I have to pick up an 11/32 drill bit at lowes for example. Also, advice on whether I should tap my new turbine (like I did before) or tap the manifold instead?

Anyway, info:
I am switching to a new turbo and the EGT fitting is on the turbine instead of the manifold. I want to install a new probe fitting on the manifold after the switch but I am having trouble finding the fitting.

I need the stainless 1/8th NPT screw-in fitting that the autometer probe uses. Anyone know where to find one? Also, anything I should be cautious of? I assume I just drill it and tap it for 1/8th NPT and then put in some high temp anti-seize. Is this adequate? I'm not super experienced at doing threads.

This is a JGS manifold.

Drill the hole
Tap the hole slowly, pulling it back out after a few turns to relieve some chips
Once tapped, clean manifold out thouroughly and insert your 1/8-27 NPT fitting.
I would use anti seize along with some high temp permatex if you are worried about it sealing.
As for the fitting, I would call around to local hot rod shops, maybe rev2red or wideopentuning can help source the part for you.

Yeah that is the gay thing about tallahassee. Absolutely no performance anything. Back in Tampa I could get all my fabrication done by this guy in St Pete, get mazda specific stuff (tranny replacement etc) done by Jeff and generally have access to all the parts I wanted. Up here there is jack ****. Not even a working dyno (there is one but the guys dont know how to operate it and they blew up a couple of cars apparently).

Try a plumbing supply for the fitting. The Autometer fitting into the manifold will stay tight, but I found the locking nut against the ferrule loosens from vibration. I put a small worm clamp across the flats of both to keep it on.

Yup. Welcome to Tallahassee

You could try Fastenal over on Appleyard Dr. or that hydraulic supply place in that neck of the woods...who's name I can't remember at the moment...off Pensacola St.

Directions from Gainesville to Tallahassee:

Go North 'till you smell it.

Go West 'till you step in it.

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)
