Default Attention, Tim the Fabricator.

Here is the compressor map for a Garrett GT1544, a small turbo which fits easily into tight spaces:

It flows ~11 lb/min @ PR=2.25 at the very tip of the 75% island.

A Chevy LS6 engine displaces 350ci. Thus, at VE=85% and 6,000 RPM, it breathes 5.2 lb/min through each one of its cylinders, or at a PR of 2.25 it breathes 11.7 lb/min through each cylinder.

Discuss.

So 8 of these turbos on an LS6 could produce no boost at 6000rpm efficiently?

Octacharged Pownage

It should run out of breath on a miata at around 4000 R.P.M. and 6 psi. The turbo is spinning out of control at 4500, and at 5000 it hand grenades.

Do it!!! ~$500x8=one or two killer turbos that would work better and have a lot of change left over.

This 1544 is good if you're gonna turbo your oldass Ninja 500. If you were so inclined I'd sell you mine for about what you can find a chinese ebay special for

Right. I don't know exactly how to interpret the info in a turbine map (one line?) but yeah, two of these on a 1800cc isn't a recipie for a lot of power, but maybe 8 on 5700cc would be a better match. I think the 1548 is a better choice though, water cooled too and not a larger footprint.

Yeah, I didn't care for that design. They collect all four cylinders' exhaust into a single log (and a rather poorly built one at that) then distribute it to all turbos equally, which are mounted in front of the engine. Pictures, for those who care: http://www.lateral-g.org/sandlin/

I want one turbo per cylinder, hanging directly off the head, in a nice front-to-back row.

Well, yeah. There is that.

Then, there's also this: http://cgi.ebay.com/T15-Turbo-Turboc...QQcmdZViewItem. Apparently someone over at M.net did some research and found that, spec-wise, it's essentially a GT1548. (yes, I realize it's not the real ETD.)

in math world a 1.6L can flow something around 85CFM or so close to 2500rpm.
at 7000rpm we'd be closer to 195CFM give or take 195/2 = 97.5CFM

probably why you saw gains when you went up to bigger ones, the exhaust was flowing more volume than the turbines could pass efficiently.....something to that matter :insert gain of salt:

Isn't that someone over at m.net our very own markp? if it truly is a chinese (or not?) GT1549, or close to it, then that's awesome. Pretty close to the GT1548 that I'm using now, x2, and on my dad's Suzuki Swift GT (1.3) x1. Works awesome on that car, works ok on mine too. Should work ok on his ninja500, without doing the math. Same for your LS6 I guess. I'm at lunch and it's friday. Both mean no math.

Do it, those ebay specials are cheap enough x8 to try if you don't mind eating it if it sucks. you can probably get me to do manifolds for "cheap" cause it'd be a unique project.

This is about the 8th time I've edited this...I keep adding stuff.
That 8turbo 57chevy "axcer8tor" or whatever I thought was a pretty cool idea when I first saw it, I was very interested. Then saw their pisspoor design, with the crap-ly designed log manifolds and such. Probably felt that simple was better/cheaper than doing it fancy. Oh well, I'm sure it did it's job of wow-ing the owner and the old carshow crowd types. And the dyno results were sad. I'm glad they posted a dyno video of it though.
