taping oil pan

Anybody know what size drill and tap I need for taping the oil pan for old corky bell ihi kit?

Depends on the fitting size, but most of those fittings are 1/2" NPT. The drill is either 45/64" or 23/32".

Should I swap the oil pan over? I would think taping would be easier.

Also where can I something to tap the thread? NAPA? Where can I get mineral sprints to flush out the shavings inside the oil pan?

The return fitting looks to be 1inch

its a 1/2" npt fitting, i'd stake my life on it.

go to flyin miata's site and download their install instructions, it has the best writeup for the tap.

swapping the pans will be 1000x more work.

So the fm fitting is same as the old cortech ihi turbo oil return fitting?

if it's a 1/2" npt, i can loan you my tap and bit. i just did it last weekend. worked like a charm. shoot me a PM if you're interested, since it'll save ya a few bucks.

no prob. if it is indeed a 1/2NPT, i used a 22/32" bit and it tapped like butter.

NAPA did not have a temp. Fuel pressure gauge to hook up to fuel rail in stock and cheapest one is $50. Also the fitting is 3/8 npt.

Well the drill I have did not fit the 1/2 drill bit, so I just swap the oil pan.

Have fun swapping oil pans and ignoring everything we've said. If you seriously drilled a half-inch hole in your oil pan, and you don't know where to buy paint thinner, mabye you shouldn't be attempting this.
