1.6L DiY Turbo
Hey all. I haven't been on here in a couple years. I have learned A LOT since then and I am finally starting a turbo project. I am picking up a DiY kit from a local guy and am in the process of planning. It is a T25 from a 2nd Gen. DSM, unknown FMIC with DiY piping, Ebay BOV, manifold, and downpipe, and some other random things. I am going to gather the rest of the small things it is missing and fix up some of the piping over the next month or two.
One thing I am caught up with is Megasquirt vs. FPR. I do not plan on going for crazy power anytime soon. It would be nice to have the MSPNP for tuning and future upgrades but I am not looking for anything more than 140-150 rwhp. I have been reading mixed results on the FPR unit from Begi and what it is capable of.
My car is a daily and will see track use maybe once or twice a month in the summer. I have been patiently waiting to leave naturally aspirated 1.6l behind and I want to make sure I get it right the first time. I have been reading a lot of MSPNP manuals and how-to's across a few forums. I know the benefits of it and I might just save up for it. Just wondering what experience people have had with an FPR and low power.

I think what I am going to do is some suspension stuff this summer so I can get some track time and then later on in the year tackle an engine swap and get an MS unit. I am not very electronically inclined minus my video games so I am not sure if I want to put the unit together or buy the PNP unit. More research must be done, always lol
I will probably just end up using Megasquirt in the end but any experiences with the FPR unit that comes with the BEGI kit or others would be appreciated :] Other than that, I will start a build thread soon but most of you guys probably won't like the purpose of this car
