I have had really bad spool lately ...found a loud exhaust leak that I believed was pre turbo... Turns out 1outlet bolt snapped and 2nuts fell off on the turbo to dp flange. The exhaust leaking here hurts spool that bad??

pre-turbo leak = big affect on spool
when I warped the flange on mine even though it was a tiny little leak I lost a whopping 800 rpm worth of spool.

I USed the gasket because I had it sitting around ... Most of you don't run gaskets? I know pre turbo will murder spool, but how is the Mani to dp flange effecting it that bad ?

I am taking the turbo off tomorrow and replacing the hardware. Which if any gaskets should I run?

Gaskets are just asking for trouble, and are totally unneeded.
If you cant keep it from leaking without a gasket, you need to go find someone with a mill.

I vote you get an inconel gasket made by Twins Turbo and get the trackspeed stud kit. Yes, all that is a lot of money. No, you won't have to work on it again.

The TrackSpeed Stud kit does not come with the exhaust studs as far as I know, and if anyone gets them before me I will tea bag their face.

if you downpipe does not have a brace to the block try having one welded on will stop any unwanted movement

How does having a layer of inconel (very hard) provide a better seal than two machined flat surfaces? Usually a gasket is of a less stiff material, which gets "squished" into nonconforming surfaces to create a seal. However I can definitely see how an inconel gasket would be superior over a conventional gasket in regards to bolts loosening. I'm not saying it doesn't work, but what am I missing here?

Normal gaskets will just disintegrate, cause a big exhaust leak, and warp the flanges. Inconel gaskets shouldn't cause any of that, but they still aren't necessary if both surfaces are flat.

Just an update: I fixed the problem on sunday. I pulled the turbo off and replaced the hardware. The mani to turbo gasket wasnt leaking.

I am currently running no gasket on the dp at all.
