Default 1.6 problem.

1990 1.6 .I have a t28 setup, intercooled. With lc-1, walbro 255, bipes, begi fpr, stock injector and ecu. The turbo is boosting 7psi.

The issue im having is at wot at around 4k rpm my car feels as if its cutting out and lacking all power. My afr will go from 13.6 to 16ish once the cut out occurs. A better understanding would be a "fuel cut" situation.

Some guidence would be appreciated.

When is the last time you replaced your spark plug wires?

Seems like all of the 1.6 cars with stock ECUs do this.

I disconnected the bipes and solved the problem for the most part. But leans out still. It will pull fine at 13ish afr. Then at times will jump from 13ish afr to 16 and do the "cut".

I will change wires and plugs tomorrow.

Any idea what caused this with stock ecu? ...Afm?

AFR should be going from 15:1 to 10:1 at around 4K with your setup.

Sounds like your FMU isn't doing crap.

i put some "fresh" gas in it today (was at quarter tank) put 3 gallons of 93. runs great and pulls...at 5k...

but i have adjusted the fpr some. at half throttle the afr's are reading 13.4ish, at full throttle at 7psi its reading 15.6ish. and idles at 14.9.

so i assume i will just need to keep tweaking the needle valve?

and if i dont hear "knock", should i assume there is no detonation occuring?

NO
just because you can't hear it doesn't mean its not there.
and if you start boosting and afrs keep going up and up and never come down below 12.5 you should let out

I messed with the fpr and bipes some. In some pulls it'll get to 11.8-12.6 and some pulls it'll read 13.8-14.6

I have the needle valve bottomed out. I am unable to monitor fuel pressure while driving. It feels nice at the 13 afr range.

You'll want to run mid to high 11s, and we'll allow low 12s in lower RPMs. This should be your main focus, not how strong it feels.

I have some 01 265's. I may try. The fpr isn't allowing me to reach 11's and such. Which is interesting, since I've seen people on 7psi reach those afr's with a afpr
