Default t3/t4 or t25

ok.. so i finally decided im gonnna start gathering parts so i can turbo my 99. im on a budget like most are (or atleast it seems like lol) now, i've searched and searched on this forum for a thread to atleast give me insight or answer my question but no luck....

im looking for just some quick power gains, nothing extreme. something that'll give me atleast 50hp more. quick spool would be great since miatas arent no highway monsters.

since my search, i've seen t3/t4 going for cheaper then a t25 (both garrett) but which is better? in the end which will perform better and produce a lil more power then the other?

thanks you for your help

Just get yourself a small chinese ebay t3 turbo. They are becoming pretty popular and have held up pretty well for the most part

The problem is getting an inexpensive T3 1.8 manifold, there are dirt cheap 1.6 T3 manifolds around, but all the 1.8 manifolds are expensive (both T3 and T25)

since im gonna basically gonna do bargain hunt for parts, i dont mind waiting to see a deal pop up as far as manifolds go or just save up and fork out the money to buy a new unmolested manifold.

the china turbo sounds good but still would be goo to know what are the pro's and con's between the 2.

In your situation there really isn't any pros or cons. You're only looking for 50 extra HP, which frankly isn't anything at all. I would just pick up a basic flying miata DIY manifold and downpipe, and then get used SR20 T25 turbo. It'll easily get you 50HP.

If you can wait til after the 5th of june i'll sell you my manifold, turbo and downpipe for 700 bucks. SR20 T25 with a SS bottom mount manifold and 3" bellmouthed downpipe.

i guess i should of been a lil more clear in my original post

im looking for a quick 50hp increase out of a simple set up with future plans of increasing hp more.

i have an extra motor that will be getting built. im just tired of the lack of power the miata has so i wanna get a more power to "un-bore" ... im sure all n/a guys will agree

so far what im looking at is

custom megasquirt
either t25, t3/t4 or chinacharger
log style manifold
255 walbro fuel pump
supra injectors
ebay intercooler
buget downpipe and exhaust system

thats all i could think of right while im at work

Oh damn you have a 99. Nevermind my offer is off the table

A T25 will give you ~100 more HP and that is about the smallest turbo you're going to want to go with for sure.

I'm pretty sure that "Deez" has exactly the setup you're looking for. Send him a PM and he'll hook you up.

Subscribed... I'm in for pros/cons between the two as well. Also running a 1.6L and would like to save as much cash as I can (to fund things like an EWG, ect.) so the T3 seems favorable.

How does this look? Will I ever be able to spool this thing?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/T3-Fl...ht_3928wt_1058

I'm planning for around the same modest goals as most people ~200-250whp... Thanks.

I had the same size turbo on my stock 1.8, made decent power untuned and didn't spool too bad but dont expect anything crazy fast in the terms of spool.

Id rather have a chinacharger t28 (GT2560 equivalent) over a china t3 50 trim.
