Default TD04 vs GT2554 vs GT2560

As I understand it, the TD04 is smaller then the 2554, so less power can be made with it.

200wbhp is about the max the TD04 can make (?)

Higher octane and 2.5" pipe can take me how far ? - I'm @ 192wbhp now

Thanks !

put car on dyno.
increase boost.
make pull.
repeat until no more power is made.

did that, 192 knock free and 197 with knocks, the tuner said "get higher octane fuel and 2.5" pipe and come again"

I think the turbo can not do more...

that's ton of timing with a small turbo and stock exhaust.

you will see a bunch of power if you go to a 3" exhaust (3" or bust).

you will blow your motor soon.

confirm: 98 octane or 98 ron?

RON is an octane rating

I use 95 RON and would try 98 RON.

Should I go to 3" pipe ? 2.5" is not enough ?

Yeah our 93 octane is pretty much 97-98 RON; I cant believe your motor hasn't popped yet.

and yes, this site's motto is: 3" or bust.

Is there a question in the OP that I'm missing?

There are a ton of td04 turbos. Not familiar with the 13c so can't comment on that.

Since you have a 2554 you should be able to hit 200-220 if you make the rest of your setup efficient. Stock exhaust is choking you down in a major way, among other things. You should post what you're trying to accomplish with this thread so we can try to help you.

Not sure on the 13c compressor but on the 13t compressor you should be making more than 200 with a good tune. With the td04l-13t in my wrx I have it pushed to 240 on a mustang dyno with more drivetrain loss than you. I'm sure the wrx head flows better but still. On a 1.8 assuming the compressor is close to a 13t you should be able to push it to about 15psi at redline flowing ~400cfm. Of course the best part of that dinky turbo would be hitting 20psi from about 3krpm to 5k and tapering down to 15psi at redline... That would make 5 speed breaking torque though, assuming you have the knock resistance for it in the mid range. Dont even try that on a stock engine or stock 5 speed, you will break everything. I cant find a 13c compressor map though, appears to be volvo.

OT: In boredom and looking at random td04 compressor maps. I actually think the winner on a 1.8 miata would be the 19t. Could hold any amount of boost you want all the way to redline, looks like it would enjoy running at 20psi, but you could push it to 25 with a good intercooler and good knock resistance. You can buy mutant ones in multiple fitments, you would want the TD04HL-19t, to get the better flowing hot side. I would think you could be pushing 260whp on 93 maybe get close to 290 on e85. In a zippy little $600 "new" rebuilt brand name turbo.

Stock engine/5 speed checking in. Running a 13T for 20k miles now boosting 17psi. Includes multiple track days. I show much mechanical empathy though.

I use TD04H-13C, I'm trying to find out if I can get to 250wbp with it or I need a bigger turbo for that.

The 13T is a little bigger then 13C (53 vs 56 Exducer wheel diameter),
13T is just between 2554 and 2560

I don't think you'll hit 250whp to be honest. But about 220 with a good hump of torque with an optimized setup
