hey everyone,

i have a 1991 miata 1.6 do it yourself turbo kit (T25 turbo stock wastegate boost at 6-7lbs) and i was running ngk r spark plugs bk7re but now that plug is discontinued. i just wanted to see what all you other guys were running so i can find another plug that will work as good or better. thanks for your help it is very much appreciated.

If that plug is truly discontinued which I highly doubt you can run the iridium version which is a BKR7EIX.
Gap it down to around .028 - .030 if you're on stock coils. Possibly smaller if you have spark break up issues at that gap.

I did hear they changed the part numbers, may be where the discontinued rumors come from.

I've also heard that they are discontinued. You can still get them online, but finding them locally is a no go (at least for me). I think its time we sought out another plug in that same heat range. Autolite anyone?

Did some part# digging. Looks like the '3' heat range autolites are equivalent to the brk6's from NGK. That being said, the '2' range autolites would be what we want to use. They run about 2.75/each. A lot of DSM guys switched over to autolites, and they tend to make quite a bit more power than we do. I'll be grabbing a set this weekend to try them out.

They have the regular and the "v" power. The regular complete part number is BKR7ES-11
The v is BKR7EV-11. Make sure you put that 11 at the end, or most of the douchy parts stores don't compute.

They're just changing the coding. Instead of BKR7E it is called just a number now. I can't remember what... at the shop I used to work at we sold a ton of 7RE's.

Are these the BKR7E spark plugs? They don't have the number located on them. If they are do the turbo cars get the part number for the NA plugs or the supercharged plugs? Mazda Miata Parts & Accessories at MiataMania.com

I'm sure they do have an NGK part number on them, just not on the side Moss has chosen to show you in the pic. In fact, the number isn't anywhere on their web page that I can see. I like to know for certain what I'm buying, so I'd buy from a vendor who tells me specifically what I'm getting.

You can get a set of BKR7Es for $10.95 shipped on ebay. The last set of plugs I bought from a seller in Garden Grove, CA arrived on my doorstep in VA two days later.

The -11 is actually a wider gapped plug. For a gap around .030 you actually do not want the -11 plugs

That is right. They didn't change the part numbers. These are stocking numbers. Stores use them because they are a hell of a lot easier to deal with than the alphanumeric part numbers

Use diesel spark plugs. They last for hundreds of thousands of miles!

I went to Advance auto looking for spark plugs for my brother-in-laws ATV. I asked for NGK cr7e plugs. They said those didnt exist. When he looked up the ATV and got the plugs, they had CR7E written there right under the stocking number. Sux that the old part numbers aren't even in the system.

Advance Auto - NGK 4644 (BKR7E) - $1.69 each.

You don't want the -11's, as they're gapped at .043, as opposed to .031
