Default 2 free turbos. TD04l and GT2052

hello.

I work at a diesel/gas fuel shop.
I have access to 2 free turbos. left over cores in house.
both needs to be rebuilt. both will be getting new CHRA's and rebuilt in house.

One is a TDO4L
one is a 272264-5001 GT2052.

Im looking at putting a DIY/BEGI parted turbo kit on my 93 1.6 goals are.
140-150 initial install. un intercooled. and full bandaid craptastic install.

Working my way to a max of 200~+/- RWHP intercooled and to get rid of the bandaid's through better fuel control, intercooling and MS install.

i love to rev this little thing. 7grand is fun. just looking to get some more power out of it as 100RWHP doesnt really do it for me...

any advice? which turbo is easier to upgrade? which is easier to DIY install and find flanges for? are they about the right size for what im doing?

Thanks in advance.

The 2052 is way too small. Honestly get a China t25 turbo and be done with it. Will support 150 to 200 no problem.150hp is ***** though. You will want more.

I believe the td04l is 3 bolt subaru flange. (correct me if I'm wrong). That said you will very hard pressed to find a manifold. You could make your own, it has been done before. That gt20 sounds pretty small.

the TDO4l is a 4 bolt exhaust wastegate side. looks to be about a T3 size exhaust inlet.

I do know i will want more. but.. Budget budget.

Getting it up and running with a turbo regardless of HP is goal one. followed by a NPR intercooler( diesel shop =100$ ) some larger injectors and better fuel management and computer control.

5-7PSI and a good exhaust will get me 140-150HP.

more boost fuel and control will push me to 200HP.

I dont need more. i have a T70 on my 95 mustang GT. this miata is just numbingly slow.

so fellas what is the verdict. or what do you have to say about either of these turbos and my goals.

BTW both turbos are sitting at the shop and free.. im also looking at two more

a schwitsher S2 and a T3 size IHI i havent looked at closely.

Honesly if dodge didnt act so freaking STUPID in the 80's i would get get a TEO4H off some mid 80's turbo dodge crap... they will mak 200RWHP . i use to on my 89 turbo van..
but they did some dumb stuff on there exhaus side...

Thanks in advance.

If free means you can pass it along at an insane price I could really use that 2052 for a motorcycle turbo project I'm starting.

trade ya for a useable 1.6 miata core?
as this is basicaly a complete turbo core.
it will need a CHRA as that is why it was in the shop. and we just sold them a rebuilt.

there are actually alot of diffrent td04 turbos. post a pic and maybe we can figure out which one it is.. theres td04's for subarus and i think 3 diffrent ones for saabs and maybe more. i have a td04hl off a saab viggen. i have fast spool up and its slightly bigger then my spare td04 off a regular 9-3

will try and snap a cell phone pick at work.
its a TDO4L more than likely off a perkins engine. as it is hosed in perkins blue/grey paint.

it has hose flanges on both cold sides.
a 4 bolt square T3 looking size exhaust inlet.
and a 4 bolt exhaust outlet..internal wastegate.

I was looking at some spool date for a TDO4L on here. seems it will have some boost fairly quickly and i'm not looking for 8 billion HP. i want to enjoy the 7K+ redline screaming 4cly with 50-90 more HP so the car is actually tolerably quick.

Next Up IH VI34 seems to be comparable to a RH5B from the T-T-Birds of the 80's and heck its water cooled!!

any of these seem like a decent starting point..
a Turbo manifold will be300$ no matter what turbo flange is on it. and getting a good new turbo for free aint halfbad..

Thanks for any advice guys.
