Default A few questions from a new guy

Hi guys -
I have a few questions regarding a project I am considering.
I am sure there are many here who might be willing to help me out.
Is the 1.6 Miata crank forged?
Are the rods forged?
If they are not, who makes these?
Who makes 8:1 forged pistons other than JE?
Who makes a plug/play standalone?
What is the highest rev range you have seen using stock lifters/oil system/water pump (not necessarily with stock crank/rods/pistons, however).

Sorry about the outline form, but I will appreciate any insight.
Finally - I know from experience what can be expected from these types of open questions, so let's not waste our time discussing my "budget" or "how much work is involved".
I am a 43 year-old guy with an extremely high level of turbocharged engine building experience (my actual hands on the engine)
Thanks in advance for information.
-Jim

:2cent: buy a 1.8L engine before you start the build.

you really are a special tool

43 years old with "extremely high level of turbocharged engine building experience" yet asking such basic and stupid questions tells us you're either stupid or extremely lazy.

Not many things annoy me more than self proclaimed "experts" that can't search and ask dumb questions.

Is the 1.6 Miata crank forged?

NO

Are the rods forged?

NO

If they are not, who makes these?

FM for crank. Rods (M-tuned, eagle, ect....)

Who makes 8:1 forged pistons other than JE?

Who makes a plug/play standalone?

Megasquirt (MSPNP, or Brain build. I suggest the second),

What is the highest rev range you have seen using stock lifters/oil system/water pump (not necessarily with stock crank/rods/pistons, however).

I've heard the B6 and BP resonate at about 8k.
Sarry 18, I dont haz much to doz today.

alas im bored.

Is the 1.6 Miata crank forged? no
Are the rods forged?no
If they are not, who makes these? m-tuned, eagle, crowler, Carrillo, etc.
Who makes 8:1 forged pistons other than JE? weisco, supertech, etc
Who makes a plug/play standalone? Megasuirt, Hydra, AEM, etc.
What is the highest rev range you have seen using stock lifters/oil system/water pump (not necessarily with stock crank/rods/pistons, however). 7500. oil pump needs billet gears and/or an AIT damper. Hydraulic valves will float.

my machine shop teacher use to say, most people prefer an expert (of any trade) who knows where to find the answers, not just one who just goes off memory. Maybe you should put that self proclaimed expert knowledge in use and do some research. happy reading
