Its different for different versions of the valve. I know its pretty common for the ones in the Audi A4, S4 and Golfs and Jettas to crap the bed. The common upgrade is the valve from the 225hp Audi TT.

Weak valve part number. 06A 145 710 H
Good valve part number. 06A 145 710 N

I guess most the valves available from the dealer now are all N valves.

I've got the highest grade one- but was planning on 20psi and wondered if that would make it "crap the bed" I guess I'll find out.

You should be ok I think. If not there are tons of nice drop in replacements from Forge or Baileys that can be had for around $100.

Well, Porsche used them on its cars for years. How much boost did the 944s or 911s run from the factory?

The Porsche ones are a different number as well. I wonder what valve the Veyron uses?

0o0o0ooo good question.

I don't think the veyron runs all that much boost tho. After all, it has 2 4.0l VR8s to motivate it!

Gives me shivers just thinking about it.

My 944 turbo runs 0.9 bar approximately 12 psi.

Kinda old school but the 5K Audis worked up to about 22psi on the brass Bosch (I built three last winter, for a race guy) That would be the porsche # one (don't have it infront of me)

I'm not sure exactly how it works, but a lot of 1g DSM owners "crush" their BOV's to tighten them up. Yup, actually put them in a vice and squash them in some manner to keep them from opening under high-boost condition.

My BOSCH was out of a Saab 9-3 (I think 12psi), so probably capable of handling much more. I'd feel safe running 15psi or maybe a little more.
