knock problems
Hey guys, here's the rundown:
Installed a T25 a couple of weeks ago and I'm running at about 7psi
-open downpipe
-SAFC 2 (although I did a bullshit tuning job, didn't have a wideband)
-I think my turbo may be leaking a bit of oil... whenever a coupler blows the inside of it has a slick oil on the rim of the coupler
-stock injectors
-no intercooler
So at idle, my AFC is reading about 60-70 knock. Goes down to about 60~65 when I put it in first and start moving though.
Also, if I stay above 3k rpm for about 10-15 mins, the engine check light will usually come on and knock will go up a good 5-10 counts, sometimes even hitting 80 counts of knock.
Not sure if this is relevant, but when I was running stock a few weeks before I went turbo, my battery died and I had to jumpstart it and never ended up replacing the battery.
The car is a 1992 1.6 with 190,000 miles on it. What do you think the problem is? The leaky turbo? Maybe the lack of an intercooler or the crackjob tuning? Please let me know - I'm really not looking forward to an engine rebuild if necessary. If pictures of the setup will help, let me know.
Thanks, all help is appreciated.

How the **** is the safc reading nock without a knock sensor? When i installed mine it had no provision for one as well and running with no Downpipe is a good way to melt **** in the engine bay. dud you seriusly need to take some time and read this forum PM or email me if you have and real questions after this post. FWIW the check engine light is probably for a 02 sensor signal out of normal range.

wow dude, open DP, no intercooler, shitty fuel control, you are asking for it...
7psi may be too much for you at this point, get some supporting mods to go with your set up (WBo2 can be your best friend when tuning) and just score a turbo rebuild kit, its not very uncommon for the seals to go out, and T25 (according what i read here so far) seem easy to rebuild...
update your location as well, chances are you have someone local to you that knows what they are doing and can become your next best friend
