Intercooler ?

hey guys , Out of curiosity I stumbled across this ic for 140 bucks....looks alot like a evo intercooler...do you think I could work it...lol maybe !

go with an intercooler off ebay...that's pretty larger and more expensive than ones off there.

lol I still have the original saab ic.

I believe my oil drain is a lil too long lol....Have all these parts , no tools to do the work

I still need to take the exhaust housing to a machine shop to have 3 studs removed ....bUt **** keeps poping up that involves money so its hard to get anything done for now

You could take the studs out yourself using two nuts and the jam nut method if you wanted. Clamp the housing in a vise, thread a nut about half way on the stud, then tighten another stud onto the stud upagainst that nut then a wrench on the lower nut and break that stud free. Use some PB blaster on that stud though for a little while before hand and possibly while.

thanks guys , I will put that to work when I get home, A hammer should help get loose the studs after hitting with wd40....should be intreasting considering i DOnt have a vice :(

try using PB blaster its 100X better than wd40 for getting into things.

you need heat... I soaked mine in pb blaster for several days and still broke a few studs off using that method. Add heat (map gas torch) and they'll come right out.

Dude you shouldn't need a hammer. Take you time and don't force anything. If you shear off any of the studs flush with the manifold you'll be focked.

If you don't have a torch, you can put it in the freezer. It's not the heat (or cold) that will bust the stud loose, it's the fact that different materials expand (or contract) at different rates.

well I managed to free one stud using the nut jam technique....I tried it on the second stud that was pertruding from the exaust housing but no luck with that.....the stud was stripped of its threading....well I guess im going to a machine shop for the two remaining studs
