Thumbs up Turbo install in progress. (Pics Added)

Ok so I'm finally going turbo. I got the car in January and happened to come across this site. Now guess what happend? I had to go turbo so got involved with you guys here and even had a few people bitch at me and a few help me, but its all good. So I have been working on collecting parts for my DIY turo setup. The is being worked on by couple of local kids since I can't wrench. Should have it done by tomorrow. Will try to post pics once I get them.

Setup includes the following:

90 Mariner Blue 1.6 with 94k
HKS Manifold
GT2560r
460cc injectors
DIY dual feed fuel rail
MSPNP with GM EBC
99 torsen swap 3.9 gears
Clutch net red 3x with 6 puck disk
Treadstone intercooler
ebay piping
Custom 3" stainless exhaust piping no cat, Magnaflow muffler bought from Brainaeck
255lph fuel pump
oil filter relocation/oil cooler kit
ebay oil catch can
Greddy RS BOV
AEM Uego wideband
oil/water/boost/vac gauges

Still need Big Brakes, Wheels/tires, and suspension upgrades.

What kind of power should I expect from this setup guys? I might get it dyno tuned next week.

Congrats man! That's awesome you got some kids in the neighborhood around to help. Always cool to get other generations into cars and working on them.

How much psi are you planning on running?

I am not sure what the standard wastegat is setup at. For now will leave it whatever it maxes out at. It depends on how much psi I need to be able to put out about 250 hp. So I will see how the intial setup goes for now.

Well the car is almost done. Just working on the exhaust piece and should be done tonight or tomorrow. Sorry I did not post anymore pics or and clips yet, but will later on. Just didn't get the time yet. I am not sure what is considered loud for you guys, but I took out the car last night without the cat and muffler and the damn car is loud. Since I really don't like it loud I am going to be putting in a resonator and the muffler. In some of the videos you guys have posted with 3" exhaust the cars seem fairly quiet. Not sure why mine is so loud. I am running a modfied old FM/Begi DP which I think is 2" or 2.5" inch from the turbo, but it goes 3" inch right as soon as it goes under the car and all the way back to the 3" muffler. Anyone have a smiliar setup and what it sounds like? By the way the car feels great and the clutch holds the power, but my rear end just swings out when accelarating. Still running stock suspension and tires so will have to upgrade soon.Thinking about going 15x8 fronts and 15x9 rear maybe the 6UL. The boost goes up to 7 psi and holds there with the standard wastegate. Soon as im done I will get it dyno tuned and will post numbers.

Nice collection of parts- looks like a very complete setup. I'm gonna say 250rwhp @ 15psi - with a street tune. IMO you should set up the EBC while you're at the dyno and just be done with it.

I ran 3" exhaust with only a cat and 18" glasspack and it was so loud it was hard to converse with the passenger. BTW- don't cheap out on the resonator. My Summit glasspack already has a bad rattle with 2k miles on it.

I dropped the car off with guys that are working on it. Not sure what kind of resonator they will be using. I was having them make the resonator with the flange at both ends so that I can take it off if I wanted to. I just want it finished right now so either way I will buy a nicer stainless piece later. I do have the EBC and will install it before I get it dyno tuned. All parts should be on before the dyno. My wastegate is only like 7 or 8 psi so I guess I will not be hitting the 250hp mark just yet. From driving the car it does feel like its around 200hp right now. Anyone have a wastegate around 15psi they wana get rid of??

No reason for this... you have the EBC to control this.

Hooray for another turbo miata in Chicago

Just buy an $8 mbc from ebay, or go with EBC. A 15psi wastegate will give you slower spool than your 7psi wastegate with a mbc turned up to 15psi.
The boost controller holds the wastegate closed until it is actually time to open. A wastegate by itself starts to open like 5 psi before peak and slowly opens until peak.

I will get the car most likely done today and then just fix up the bits and pieces. Call for an appointment to the dyno shop and will have it tuned. Will post the maps if anyone wants em.

My cousin had his S2000 tuned by some shop in western suburbs. The guys that are doing my turbo intall know him too so they said he will tune it for me. I am not sure what the name of the shop is but will let you know as soon as I find out. He usually works with AEM stuff and but pretty much can tune it all. His rates aren't bad either from what my cousin told me. He tuned his S2k for under 400 I think. Will update you once I get the specifics.

Possibly Factory 5 Motoring? (now ProFunction). Could be Mikey.

I'll be using his new dyno dynamics when I'm ready.

Specifically which 255lph fuel pump are you using? It's complete overkill for you application. A stock fuel pump is more than sufficient.

I agree on a good tune, that 250whp@15psi is a strong possibility. The 2560 is still very efficient at that power level, shouldn't have heat issues. Limiting factor might be the 460's. Pay attention to your duty cycles.

MAF will be coming off, I have not installed the IAT yet. Mikey from Profunction sound familiar could just be him. I have not yet installed the 255lph will get a 190lph and sell the 255lph for now it should run ok with the stock pump.

Ok so spoke to Mikey at ProFunction for dyno tuning. I wanted it tuned this friday but he is really busy and booked se he will call me up when he's ready. I guess I will have to wait so see what kind of numbers my car is putting up. I wish I had some damn wider wheels and tires.
