Default You guys have to be the ones i need to go to for advice.

First off just wanna say hello.
Im looking for advice in regards to my 05 MSM and figure this is the forum to go to.
Currently I am running the FM BE package so I already have the Hydra and im in the process of building up the engine.
Next stage is a better/more powerful turbo.
Im considering the GTX2863r but wanted to tell you about my driving and what you all thought.
My MSM is a DD and on the weekends I take thru the Rockies. So essentially im a highway/mountain road driver.
For me a faster spool is more important then ultimate HP.
But I would like at minimum 300whp at around 4500 - 5000rpm..not much of a fan of redlining.
If you need more info please feel free to just ask.
Thanx for any input you can give me

300HP around 4-5K?

Maybe you should check out the V8 Miata forum as well.

So you're saying you don't redline the car, but you want more power? REDLINE IT. Instant power increase at no cost. You say you keep it under 4k so all you want to do is surf around on torque. Get a V8 or put a 2554 on the car.

No not quite. On the twisties out here I keep I generally keep it under 4k which is probably 20% of my driving. Under normal driving (aka freeway) I generally shift around the 4500 - 5000 range.

You don't like redline.

Seriously? Get a Buick.

The 300 whp at 4k rpm sounds like a number just taken out of nothing.
What does your car make now? (when using all the revs)

If you don't like the redline, go v8, if you're just after more power and don't really know what you want, search for cars with 2556 turbos and their spool data. they'l get you a nice flat torque curve with potential. If 300whp early actually is a real desire, look into the EFR-turbos.
spool data thread is a good bet.

You're not the only one racing a miata OP. The miata engines dont have a problem being revved high.

When you see a red line (like a girl on her period), you don't go anywhere near it.

OP if you aren't hitting the fuel-cut rev limiter at least twice per drive, you are doing it wrong.

Want to shift under 5k? Get a V8. Otherwise pull up your skirt and rev the motor out.

I'm trying to find this scene from the Replacments on youtube or a GIF:

"Jimmy McGinty: Good hit. Danny, in practice we don't hit the guys in the red shirts.

Daniel Bateman: I know, Coach, but I see that red and I just wanna go after it, like a bull, you know?"

But I can't

Don't waste your money on any parts or modifications if you aren't going to use the hundred more horsepower you already have on the right-hand side of your tachometer first. A stock Mazdaspeed makes what, 90 or so hp at about 4000rpm? I don't know where to find a dyno for a stock one.
