My clutch has been slipping a little bit from time to time. I'm not sure if, or how much that affected it. I really didn't think the numbers were that low. I was hoping to see 250 but realistically I was expecting 220ish. As others have said, I think if he'd revved it out I could have picked up a few more hp and been awfully close to what I was expecting. What would you guys expect from a 2560 @ 12psi?

I haven't dyno tuned the car yet but I have bumped up the spark map a good bit listening for detonation with det cans. I'm sure there is a little more to be had with some dyno spark tuning.

I just did a compression check and it came out 160, 160, 162, 158 so that looks pretty good (gauge seems to read low from previous cars I've checked).

I took some pics of the plugs. Maybe you guys can deduce something from the pictures, they just look like spark plugs to me. *shrug* In the pics with a light background the plugs came out looking really dark. In the pics with a dark background they came out looking really light. In person, the base of the plug (by the threads) are pretty black while the electrode is much ligher, a very light tan almost white I would say. They're gapped to .028, should I go narrower? Should I be looking for some COPS?

Any advise is very welcome, thanks.

I run this spark map without detonation on my 99 motor with a 2560

and something very close on my 94 motor with 2554

Unless you are running a much smaller intercooler and/or getting much higher temps you should be able to run close to it.

I'd want to see 230-240hp on a 2560'd 1.8 with with 220-230 ft-lbs

Thanks for posting those maps, that makes me feel a lot better about bumping my map up a little bit.

Note: I take no responsibility for whatever happens. "Close to it" can be translated many different ways.

Haha, duly noted. You will only be held responsible if positive results are observed.

yea pual is right... his look about the same as mine and i run 91 octane here in CA and 91 in cali is like 90 because of all the clean air **** they put in the gas. so try puals and see what happens. i think it should run good since you are in FL.

low static compression and the turbine characterstics are the shining factor. Its makes over 1-million whp and wtq.

261whp/252wtq on a dynodynamics

I re-dyno'd today, much better numbers this time around, 13psi this time: 262hp, 240tq. I just wanted to thank everyone for their help. You guys have been amazing in helping my idiot *** get this car together.

I'll get the dyno sheet scanned and posted as soon as I can.

so what did you end up changing?

I just changed my car's spark map from teh base DIY to about 3-4 degrees more retarded than pauls map and that made a HUGE difference all around. Its nice to know that i can still go about 3 degrees more advance all around and still be fairly safe.

DYNO this summer hopefully!

The vast majority of that gain was timing. After advancing the map a good bit my clutch, that I'd noticed slipping just slightly a couple times before, completely let go on the first pull I made. At that point I was pretty sure that I'd picked up some decent power, haha.

Well i hope to see similiar numbers with my setup. i'll also be dyno'ing on a dynojet so pdexta's numbers can be my base goal. but here in TN we care nothing of emissions and I can get 110 octane down the street, would 16psi be useless on a 2560r? I realize paul runs 17psi but he's also got the nice absurdflow setup

was the 262/240 pull with a new clutch?

It was a different dyno this time, dyno dynamics. One of my friends pulled on both dynos and lost a couple hp this time around, FWIW.

Yes, this run was on a new clutch, about a month old.

The guy that pulled before me was an old Smokey and The Bandit looking Firebird. The guy said he was making around 400. He seemed pretty heartbroken when it put down 257, then he disappeared real quick after I made 262.

Haha, nice improvement. I'm not sure about current dyno correction factors, but those are nice numbers either way, and looks like you found well more than 10% in your tuning(that extra 1psi probably didn't hurt either).
