Default 2 Questions Regarding EMB on 97 MP62

Its been a long time since I messed with my 97 MP62 miata and I really need to get the fuel issue sorted, my current setup is an old BRP mix and match of a powercard/Fuel Pump/Bipes/o2 clamp/ and 5th injector controller. I would really Like to remove this mess and put in an EMB.

First question. Will the EMB handle the 5th injector? I know the stock injectors just can't flow enough fuel and it would be a lot less cost to start with to just use the 5th injector that is already in place.

Second question. How hard is it to reconfigure a Used EMB that was setup for use on another type of car? Am I better off just buying a new one?

Thanks for the help,

Sean

yes, emb will control up to 2 additional injectors.

no, you don't have to buy new. just change the map back to zeros, and set your rotary dials and jumpers.. you'd have to set them on a new unit anyway..

You'll need the support tool, if you're buying new or used, to access the maps.

just get a set of used Supra green top 305 Injectors.
All time on Ebay for arround 50$.

You could sell your tan top injectors for the same price...

No need to fiddle anymore with a 5th injector and uneven fuel distribution

On my 96 I use 305's and a 5th injector. You'll have no problems.

Also you'll still need to use the O2 clamp.

Used is fine. That's where I got mine. <G>

Pick up a GM 2-bar map sensor... it will help you out considerably. Unless you were running one with the Bipes (I don't remember now).....

Keep the O2 clamp... you'll still need it. (and I should have had one, when you got yours, made big difference).

Your call if you want to invest in the Autotune as well. It helps with the map logic quite considerably. <G>

if your tricky like me you can switch your O2 clamp/autotune relay directly from your emanage with out the need for a pressure switch..this way you can adjust the rpm and boost value that it switches in at by just changing the software Map values....

Unfortunately I'm not tricky like you Could you explain how you did it or point me to a previous thread that explains it. I'm running EMB on my 94 and I've got the pressure switch for my clamp mounted in the cab... i can hear it everytime it clicks over and it's pretty annoying.

Heh, well I see where you're coming from then. I admit that was a little uncalled for.
