Default Any one used extra injector channel for shift light?

i have a blue upgraded to gold and am using the NVCS channel to switch my 02 clamp relay....
i am getting sick of my boost gauge blocking up my air vent so want to ditch it.
i want to install a high intensity LED in my gauge cluster that will act as an overboost light and a rev limit light..

has anyone done this?

i'll just set up a map where it turns the channel to max duty cycle at say 8.5 psi or 7000 rpm and above...
just wondering if anyone has had any joy with negative switching a led from the emanage extra injector channel?

I would do this on a MS3x...I use the (4) extra fuel drivers to do a plethora of funcitons.

Sounds like you're on the correct track if you can get it to light up when you want in that manner.

Great idea 4sfed5! +1
I will try this

Previously I ran a 5th injector from the sub injector map. (Before I got bigger injectors)
When testing the circuit I used a led and series 500 ohm resistor. It worked, lighting brighter with increasing duty cycle.

ok so i pulled out the gauge cluster and come up with a plan.

I am going to use the high beam indicator light position as my overboost/shift light position and move the high beam indicator to either the E brake light or Cat light.it will require cutting the icon blind and repositioning the blue high beam icon.
this website gives some pics of the gauge cluster icons so you see what i mean.
http://dekiairoadster.web.fc2.com/r-043-2.html

then i'll fill the high beam port with a bright red led.
so it will look totally stock but will have a bright as **** shift light right in the middle of the cluster.....
Now i just have to go and make it happen.

I did this one,

But that was off an actual shift light output on a different ecu, not sure how the injector drivers will go sitting on 100%, I imagine 70%DC will make the light work well and give the drivers an easier time.

UPDATE!

i picked up a 10mm high intensity red LED today and have fitted it to the lamp holder usually used for the high beam lamp. just drill 2 holes in the back of the holder for the LED legs to come out the back AND SNAP OFF OR BEND IN THE OLD LAMP HOLDER CONTACTS.

then its a simple matter of hooking up wire from the led to your emanage (dont forget the 470 or 560 ohm resistor). +ve for the LED to ECU power and -ve to the sub injector wire.
sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, my DSLR is away being recalibrated.
cut the blind:

Cut the high beam icon part off your warning light blind as above. re assemble and your good to go!
as you can see, my 7 year old DIY dials are crappy and need replacing...hence the cluster removal in the first place.

An overboost and shift light for about $2 of parts.

4sfed5, bit off topic
I see in your sig that you run a IHI vf10?
How does flow compare to other Subaru turbos? TD04 / TD05 or other?

the VF10 has the same turbine as the VJ20 Mazda GTX turbo, but a much bigger compressor. It flows more air than a wrx TD0413c at lower boost. the Td04 is a small high revving turbo used to get a 4wd off the line fast and then uses high boost to get the flow. if you look at a comp map of the tdo4 you see the narrow efficiency band used to get those figures.

The VF10 has a wider efficiency window but doesnt boost as high.
so the VF10 at low boost is more efficient and flows more air for any given PSI under about 10-11psi, above that the wrx turbo is more efficient.
the vf10 is similar to a gt25 or a 15G but more efficient i guess. i hit 7 psi at just under 3000rpm and it easily holds to redline. i think its a great turbo and vastly under rated especially for the price, which is much cheaper than a used Nissan/garret turbo.

I looked for a VF10 compressor map but only found ones for BRL4219 and BRL4016.
Any ideas where to look?
