Default problems with emanage blue install

Hi all

I recently fitted an emange blue to a friends 1.8 na roadster to help with his m45 charger I used a boomslang harness so should have been plug and play but we seem to have got a major problem as the car will idle fine and will rev freely from cold (when first started)but once the engine has been running for 30 seconds to a minute it simply will not rev it just seems to bog down as soon as you increase the revs but return it to idle and it will sit there quite happilly,I have disconected the maf input to the emanage and simply reconnected the 2 through cables.when using emanage tools you can read rpm, tps, kps,no maf but that is what you would expect.
I have replaced the tps sencor assembly as this was not working at all origonally but is fine know and have reset the units jumper settings to factory according to the manual as they were totally diffrent from the factory spec I believe the unit was origonaaly fitted to a honda.

I am know totally out of ideas has any one any suggestions apart from get a measquirt

Thanks Ian

Leaving the Boomslang in place, jump out all the Emanage connections(taking the Emanage out of the circuit). This will tell you whether the problem is in the boomslang, itself, or the Emanage.

Good idea so basically make jumper wires to reconnect any brocken cables leading to the emanage and back to the ecu connector ,I know my 12 volt supply and ground are good,my maf connections are already looped out ,I get rpm and throttle readings in emanage tools so this really only leaves injector and ignition wiring and these are were the only brocken wires are leading into and out of the emanage.

Is it a used emb? Do you have the software tool and cable?

I had the same problem with mine, also from a honda. You have to create a new map on the software and and upload (export) it to the emb. Don't make any adjustments on the map, just create new and send. Then go from there on tuning.

Also, make sure your jumpers are correct inside the emb (default) and set your switches to 3 A 0.

I will try but already dumped the honda map and reset the jumpers as per operator manual and loaded the map on it from my car that I know is a working map.

You should really go over all the wires on the harness, to make sure everything is right.

What year 1.8 is this? There are differences between 95's (early and late) and also the 96/97's.....

Hopefully yes on checking the boomslang against a wiring diagram it seems the rpm cable is wired incorrectly to all other installs I have seen so I have altred this and I am awaiting another trial fitting, unfortunately the guys car who I am fitting this to Mother has died so stopping work for the time being.
Once I have refitted I will report back here.

Thanks Ian

Hi there

Ian has been really great in helping me fit my emanage to the car but this problem still exists.

I took the emanage back home and tried it on my car but its not solved the problem though now it seems as if its got a rev limiter at 2500k revs.

It will start easily enough and will idle well but after the car runs for a small amount of time you can rev it and it just stops there.

Its a 1994 1.8 eunos with a m45 jrsc apart from that everything at the moment is standard inc injectors.

Ive not got a clue when it comes to anything electrical but if you need to know anything else ill try and anwser as best i can untill ian reads this again.

Thanks for the advice so far.

This is the car in question -

If it has the JR kit.... did you remove all the JR stuff before trying? There might be a relay in the air-temp circuit, that you need to by-pass. What about the AFPR?

If you put a "0" map in there, will the car start? If you keep it out of boost can you rev it properly?

What about the injector correction, or are you running the stock 1.8 injectors still?

Hi all

I removed the resistor from the maf assembly ,there is no afpr used on this install ,I have installed the map from my car as a starting point (same spec) I have checked all wiring in the boomslang and apart from the rpm signal all appear to be correct apart from the ignition wires seem to be the wrong way round ie into and out of ecu seem to be transposed but wasnt sure if this would make any diffrence ,I have put the rpm signal wire into the correct point in the wiring loom know,I have tride it with no map installed all seems the same ie the bloody thing just will not rev I keep wondering if its something to do with it origonally being fitted to a honda but I set all the internal links to default according to the emanage manual.green and white maf wires are disconected from the emanage and spliced together at the boomslang as we are currently using standard 1.8 injectors .

I would tripple check the internal jumpers... and make sure the rotary dials are set correctly.

Then confirm all the wiring on the boomslang. I've seen issues where wires were in the wrong place....

The popts are set to 3 A 0 I have checked the jumper settings 3 times and confirmed they are set to factory spec ie as the manual says ,I have sat with the ecu ,emanage and boomslang on my desk and can only confirm that the rpm signal wire was wrong but has now been corrected and then trippled checked the wiring again ,next step will to be to load a map with nothing but 0 in it to see if this makes a diffrence ,othjer people have used my map as a baseline and had no issues like this.

All imput is welcome

Thanks Ian

Sorted this in 5 minutes today turned out the brown emanage rpm cable was wired wrong in the boomslang and also the grey throttle posision wire was wrong to ,although both changed state and looked right when viewed through the emanage support tool.

Thanks for all your input Ian
