Default DIYPNP... I have NO idea what I'm doing

Ok, let me start by saying I'm not car illiterate, but I am not too experienced on the actual tuning side.

So I have my DIYPNP hooked up and running, but I'm having a list of issues. Here they are by importance:

1. TunerStudio doesn't save ANY of my changes. I go to "Tools" "AFR" and select Innovative LC-1 Wideband (default), click "Write to Controller", hit close, and when I open it back up it's right back at "Narrowband". I've done this at least a dozen times and it doesn't save anything. Same goes for the IAT and Thermostat.

2. My Exhaust Gas Oxygen reads 0.64v ALL THE TIME. There is absolutely no deviation. I have an LC-1 and with the LC-1 plugged into my laptop directly via its serial cable I get good readings through the LogWorks software (calibrated @ 20.8% Free Air O2). I have recalibrated it several times and the TunerStudio gets nothing, just a set 0.64v through the brown cable. It gets 0.49v with the yellow cable. I am wiring it directly to the DB15 connector... not sure what's going on.

3. I think I broke my toe when I kicked the curb after getting frustrated messing with this all day. Could be unrelated to the rest of my problems, but at this point I'm considering paying someone local who knows how to wire these things to come take a look at it. No one I know has messed with this software and I'd really like a second set of eyes.

did you create an initial project? You also have to select wideband in the msq. EGO I believe. Did you burn the inital firmware where you have to place the jumper across two terminals?

I did everything step-by-step as outlined here: http://www.boostedmiata.com/MS/msq/i...uctions_TS.pdf

I originally selected narrowband because I had not installed the LC-1 or the turbo kit.

I will start with a brand-new fresh tune tomorrow. Maybe it's not working because of the initial settings.

Not sure about jumping two terminals though... did you mean the fuel pump to ground in the diagnostics harness? From how I read it that should always be jumped. Is that not true?

1. Sensor calibrations are a one way flash. Your settings will not reappear.
2. If you set up your project correctly for an LC1, then you will see AFR (or lambda) not volts for your o2. Make sure that both your project and your LC1 are set up correctly.

What might I be missing on the LC-1?

I have everything setup exactly as they appear on their respective installation instructions. I don't know enough of what I'm doing to deviate, modify, or skip.

Are there any more complicated instructions for wideband with the DIY?

From the LC-1 I hooked the red wire to 12V, blue and white to ground, black to a push-button (for calibration) and then to the ground, brown to the DB15 connector, and yellow to nothing.

Is there something I have to do with the factory O2 sensor cable? The O2 sensor is disconnected (snipped) but is there anything else that needs to be done?

Ok here goes:

Exhaust Gas Oxygen still reads 0.63v. Going through the options of AFR, Lamba, etc... none of them read correct either.

The WBO2 has stopped talking to the computer altogether. I rewired everything and the WBO2 is correctly wired, I mean it looks almost exactly like the diagram in the LC-1 user manual. Still nothing. It did very briefly talk to the computer and jumped between an AFR of 7.5 to 18.0 erratically.

I'm thinking the WBO2 is shot. I was hoping it wasn't, but I bought it used and well between myself and a few friends (all car savvy with experience on standalone ECU's) we can't think of another possibility.

I'm going to buy a whole new setup and try again. Worst case I spend more money and fix nothing, but at least I'll eliminate one possible cause.

Oh and through the LM Programmer for some reason the wideband had set itself to a "Use Defined" fuel type with an AFR of between 1700:1 to 4,000:1. I set it back to Gasoline and programmed it, but that was during one of the very brief windows where it was talking to the computer and it never came back.

< pretty much describes my current feelings towards the car.

I'm not farmilliar with the DIYPNP. Is the wide band supposed to be connected to the DB 15, is this where the o2 input feeds in?

Ordered a new WBO2 kit, this time with a gauge. I'm hoping it was just a busted sensor or harness. The connector at the harness (where the sensor plugs into the unit) was broken when I got it, but I didn't try prying it apart to see what damage was done. I'll give it another go when the new sensor arrives.
