hptuners?????
Can someone please help me. I'm looking at Miata that was tuned by hptuners. has anyone actually experienced any tuning from them? I asked him if it is running either on fmu or reprogramed ecm/ecu with a soft to tune but he is unsure. He knows that he paid to have them install n tuned the car. Please help. Its not megasquirt, hydra, or aem. It has a turbinetics external wastgated 20g turbo with redline manifold without intercooler. I havent seen the car but will be going to check it out within 2 weeks. Thanks fam!

This is the only HPTuners I could find on the net:
http://www.hptuners.com/
It looks like they have a flash-tune device/software for domestic RWD V8 vehicles... Vette/Camaro/GTO/Charger/etc... I don't see anything on that site that is related to a Miata.
When you get more specifics, please let us know.
What year Miata?
What ECU?
Miles?
Engine?
Boost?
Price?
Pictures?
But to be perfectly honest, you should just walk away. Somebody who pays a tuning shop to do all the work and has no clue what was done usually gets ripped off. It might be the deal of the century, but the car is probably a huge piece of cobbled together ricer ****... my 2 cents.

Haha, some guys are retarted. I greatly appreciate some guys to look it up. I have been in to car for the longest, especially hondas and acuras. I know a lot about fixing the cars, building it up, and have turbocharged some friends. If my question wasnt direct, I was trying to ask what tuning method with what software does HPtuners tune with? Ive seen their website and they do specialize heavily in domestics. Im not buying it but thinking about trading my 4x4 Mid size suv for it. I have talk to this guy and he doesnt seem to know his **** so I just thought id ask a question to see if this site can help. Id thought if it drives good, and after performing a compression check and check i out, if i like it, i might trade it. But at the same time, I dont want to because he really doesnt know what he put it besides A BIG TURBO!
Thanks to Sam NAVY, GOTPSI and the other guys that tried their best to not act like a dick.
IANFARELL: IM not sure, Thanks though.
18PSI: I might let it go, unless the engine is good, and I will switch out the Management system to Megasquirt.
Faeflora: Your a DUMBASS! If you aint got nothing good to say, go to another Fucken thread! You see that title? It say hptuners???? Im asking if anyone has experience with them!

Anyways, hptuners is great software as long as it's properly set up. A lot of people do use it on their miatas and make big power. If you are familiar with hondas and acuras, most of that knowledge will translate over especially the vtec part. A good starting point is nos though. Most of the big power guys run the nos.

Bro, I dont give a crap about the apostrophe. This is not an English class. Info was helpful but giving me **** isn't cool! I searched on this forum before asking the question about Hptuner! Just didn't see anything about them related to tuning on this site. I went on their site but aswell as most of you saw, was a majority of domestics! I might as well just call them up and speak to them! Thanks MIATA-GUYS for the help!

Really, how many other miatas are out there are EWG w/out an intercooler. (lulz) Also, give up on the hptuners thing, your friend doesn't know what he has. I bet you they tune w/ hptuners at the shop that built it... and they put a FPR on it.

I was being 100% serious. I wouldn't consider that car at all. HPTuners does not make an EMS program/setup for the Miata - if he doesn't even know what ECU is on it, god knows what other hacks and kludges have been performed.
This is why I generally tell people not to buy turbocharged Miatas unless they know someone who can support the car (and have the money to pay them), OR they've turbocharged a car themselves and know exactly what they're getting into. The last thing you want is to have someone offload their failed project onto you.

Thanks for some replies. I just told him nope. Funny how some guys act like they know something and when I ask what FMU he is using he says IDK, I have a stock ECU and he pulled my timing, I am on 8 lbs.! My plan is changed back to trying to get my car Mid-size SUV sold and buy a stock miata with a hardtop then it will be turbocharged by ME! Id just thought that since this thread is about turbo miatas, maybe some folks on here actually been one of Hptuner's customers. Greatly appreciate for good comments.
