Default MK1 link, without AIT or knock sensors

I am in the final stages of my 1.6 turbo install. Pretty much all I have left to do is install my link ECU. My question is, is it OK to go ahead without an AIT or knock sensor? I believe that those were optional parts anyway. Thanks in advance, and please no "get a MS dumbass!". I already have the Link and no extra money right now to upgrade.

edit. Are ther other options for me for the AIT other than the one from FM?

Nevermind. I've discovered that I do need the Link AIT. I am now on the hunt for one.

You don't need the ait sensor... The MK2 needs it... MK1 doesnt.

Thanks Greddy. I have discovered that mine could be modified to use an AIT but it hasn't been. I have finished the install and now I am looking into my 3000 RPM idle issue, which I'm being told is likely a vacuum leak.

i know this is an old thread now but i went back to the old pre fm link nz chip wich does not need the iat sensor this is definately a downgrade but saved me from importing the chip.
link ecus are quite big in new zealand so all of the dyno guys know how to tune them.
as far as i know the fmchip and the link chip use different values
and dyno guys in NZ dont understand them (keep thinking its link not flyin miata)
just thought id post this for search reasons
