So recently I replaced a dead OE stock fuel pump for a DW 325 and it seems the car has a new trick of using more gas. I'd imagine the NB fuel rail/regulator would keep things in check, but my gauge/MPGs beg to differ. Not that I'm too concerned with MPGs, but more worried about the negative aspects of running too rich at idle/cruise.

Have any of you guys gone through this and what changes to the fuel map did you have to make?

it's likely overwhelming the FPR on the crappy returnless NB system. the 325 is a whole lot of pump
you can try to tune it out, but I'm guessing you're gonna run into issues with inconsistency because the fpr is going to have all sorts of weird fluctuations

No need for any tweeks with a new fuel pump, maybe your old pump was week and it made the fueling slightly lean on u, but as u said the fpr will keep things in check as long as the fuel pump is giving adequate pressure.

Pretty sure laz had to retune after fuel pump install. Paging curly.

Yes it'll affect your map. Retune required for accurate fuel table. Laz's pump was dying when tuned, so it definitely had to be retuned.

Well, I still need to get the car to KO for a power tune, but I was wondering if I should/could pull like x% of fuel out of the map in vacuum in the meantime.

Unfortunately, the reason I'm waiting to take it to KO is to get around to replacing the FMS and oil feed line leaks.

I don't think there are any negative aspects of running rich, except MPG.

cyl washing and plug fouling, but only in extreme situations

I thought cylinder wash only happened if it wasn't sparking. Like a flooded engine, or cranking. I don't think it can happen while the car is actually running. Before you tune replace the plugs. But when it comes down to it I don't see any damage happening if you run a little rich for a bit.

Let me get Richard's car out of my garage and you should come over. FMS, intake manifold removal and re-install properly, and then we'll go dyno at KO. Should only take 1-2 days of fixing and then a day of dyno'ing. Well, 1-2 hours.
