I have had my intercooled Begi S kit on my car for a few weeks now with no boost (actuator disconnected) because I was having problems with EMB. I just filed my taxes and will be recieving my refund very soon!
I need to decide what engine management I want to go with. I currently have an lc1 with db gauge and a boost gauge.

I am looking for something that definately gives me room to grow, so I need to be able to control large injectors. (no zoom3, voodoo, etc)
I want something that is as user friendly as possible and has vendor support. (No MS)
The Xede gets more points at first since its substantially cheaper.

The Hydra is full standalone so I am assuming it will have more capabilities which will be important for higher boost..? I also like that with the hydra i can run with no maf so if i blow a hose i can still drive the car and i can run a bov venting to atmosphere.

Which one is harder to put in, Xede or Hydra? For the Xede its just plug and play right? As far as the hydra, do the wideband and temp sensors need to be wired in? it seems like thats what the instructions say.. it also seems like there are alot of settings that need to be set per the fm instructions..

Whats easier to tune? I know the Hydra has auto tune, but...?

What has the best driveability?

Wich one do people have more issues with, and problems installing?

I would appreciate any recommendations or possible other ems if their are any.
anything else that i forgot to mention that is important for me to know in my decision making?

I don't like the fact that Xede is MAF and not MAP based (though there is supposedly going to be a MAP option for it).

I don't like the price of the Hydra.

Adaptronic isn't used by tons and tons of people yet but it will be as we just had a huge group buy. It has all the features of Hydra and its half the cost.

dont rule out the megasquirt just yet either. it wins the price contest in exchange for a little convenience. the hydra is the other end of that. presumably after we get some users, the adaptronic will fall nicely in between.

I bought and am the first in the US to use the Adaptronic on an NB turbo Miata. Easy peasy and I had no previous tuning experience. It's priced right and is very easy to tune with the autotune.

Plug in, wire MAP to TPS and MAF signal wire, wire GM AIT to stock AIT wires, start car, tune idle by hand, autotune the rest. Best $1,000 ECU out there for NB's. I haven't installed large injectors yet, but supposedly it idles them fine.

does the adaptronic come with a harness? what distributors is is sold through? so i am assuming it is map based and can run as large injectors as i want?

Yes it comes with a PNP harness.

It is MAP based and will control any injectors you want.

If you have an NA, the MSPNP fits all of these questions as well. The MSPNP is a little bit easier to install, the Adaptronic has more capabilities.

yea.. i have an NB, a 99. the basemaps are readily available for it? I have never done electronics stuff before except for basic wiring. i am looking for the easiest install so kinda confused as to what to do..

As far as the adaptronic Stein has some very solid basemaps for the 99-00's. You should be able to load the base map, wire the MAP sensor, a wideband O2, and wire the IAT sensor and go. (You have to wire the IAT and MAP sensor for pretty much every standalone out there, and the wideband is just heavily recommended not required.)

Considering you have a '99 Adaptronic is going to be the most affordable and easy to install ECU option.
Base maps are available as of now apparently.

so my next question would have to be.. how many are running adaptronic that are on mt.net and how many had issues, problems with the install?

My answer for that question is that you should read the thread I linked you to and other others you can find via a search.
There are 3 running it now. Soon to be 13 more. Only person that has had issues was because they wired their map sensor wrong. Outside of that all is well.

Actually the'll be 16 more. I never updated it to the real amount. So we'll have 19 running them soon, with 2 more locked in for a buy in the near future. Plenty of community to field questions.

The group buy boxes will be here in the next day. That is already over. If you wanted an NB harness it would probably take me about a week to get it out to you.
