Default In this thread, sell me on mpnp3 pro

I know it's a awesome ECU, but I'm cheap. Picking up a new car so that means new ECU, and I'm on the fence on picking up a mspnp2 vs mspnp3 pro. Is It the night and day difference in drivability that going ms2 from ms1 was? For those of you that made the swap, tell me why it's great..

what year car?

you wont notice a night and day difference, but the firmware and features are much better.

If I were to do it all again, I would never have upgraded my ecu. Just drive the car bone stock, and throw it around, just enjoy it.

I had many issues with my megasquirt, and wasted lots of time, missed out on track days, broke down on the side of the road many times... just dont bother if you are staying na.

A miata without a megasquirt is a boring miata.
I am still n/a for the next month or so, but I can't see myself hooking up the oem ecu back.
The car is so boring to drive, no midrange whatsoever.

^interesting. I gained minimal power and torque with megasquirt, if it happened to function properly. I found significant gains over 6000rpm with bolting on a flat top intake manifold.

Still painfully slow acceleration. I'm hoping 16psi will change that.

I found the most enjoyment from throwing RE-71R tires on the car. I would definitely say "a miata without performance tires is a boring miata"

You got a bad/defective unit. You're getting it replaced with one that will hopefully work right.
Stop making blanket statements. Your car ran like absolute poo with the flattop and stock ecu.
Like, pathetically slow and rough. Literally wouldn't accelerate when warming up.

Properly working MS3 and boost should fix your problems. Hopefully

Get a reverant unit. In my experience, the base maps are much better than DIY's.

I have a great relationship with the folks at DIY, so I will get a unit from them.

The only ms3 feature I really want is flex fuel, I just have to decide if that one feature is worth the extra money. I wasn't even using all the MSII stuff.

Not many really use EVERY SINGLE FEATURE of the ms2+ stuff.
And yet it's still very advantageous to get the latest and greatest.
Ecu's literally computers: you always want the latest tech because not only does it work faster/better, but has more features, updates, tech, gets more support, and will be more compatible with future updates/upgrades.

comparing a ms2 with ms3-pro is like comparing a '90 1.6 to a 01+ 1.8
DIY took forever and a half to get the mspnp2 to the market. Like, inexcusably late. By the time it was out, it was already outdated by a couple years. So now it's darn near ancient.

you've been here since 07, it seriously saddens me that you don't already know this

Who says I did not know an ECU Is a computer? Yes, people were talking about MS3 when the pnp2 came out... And I'm not interested in soldering up a bunch of **** in a vehicle that I expect to be reliable. I just knew it was a massive step from the MS1, and it absolutely was.

When I buy a computer, I just get the one that can do the job, not because it's the latest and greatest. My core 2 duo macbook from 2009 is still awesome.
