Default scangauge 2 with piggybacks

hello,

Wondering if anyone uses a scangauge 2 (odb reader) with piggy back Electronics.

Would it show the actual fuel usage (when running boost and having a voodoo box controlling fuel). or just what the stock ecu thinks is going on?

I would like the mpg feature but pointless if doesnt work...

Cheers.

Yeah I have a Scangauge running with my parallel MS install. Unfortunately all the fuel info is just zeroed out, all the timing info is too. The temps, RPM, MPH, voltage, and a bunch of other stuff is still accessible. Not sure if there's a way to bring that info back over because the stock ECU isn't controlling the actual fueling anymore.

Thanks for the response. Makes sense about the timing/fuel.

I just ordered an elm327 obdii bluetooth scanner. Going to use Torque pro with it.

It would show only what the stock ECU was commanding, not the actual fuel or ignition after the piggyback.

Sure, connect a laptop or Android phone/tablet to the MS and pull the data that way. In a parallel install, the stock ECU has virtually nothing of interest to tell you anyway.

I'm using one with my MS1-parallel-install on my '97. It still functions, but it will only tell you what the OBD2 computer thinks is going on. So any timing and fuel data will be erroneous.

However, it is still useful for stuff like CLT, RPM (ha! did I say useful?), and other functions. Despite no longer controlling things, it's actually still been doing a very good job of estimating MPG and fuel consumption.

I've actually been using it to assist in tuning my MS1 because I can use it to monitor fuel trims against AFRs and see where the ECU would like to see the VE map in certain cells. If all goes well, the OBD2 will not realize it's not in control and the car will pass all of the emissions self-tests with the MS1 calling the shots.
