One that is already turboed I completely understand replacing with another.

So I got under the car yesterday and found oil all over the place, but only on the bottom side of the turbo and the parts underneath and around that area. It was pretty clean for at least a couple weeks before this happened.

See attached pictures.

With that in mind, and the sound from the video below, does that help anyone have a better idea of what actually broke inside the engine? I thought it might be a spun bearing at first, but I have zero real experience with the insides of an engine.

I'm still not sure what route I'm going to go: fix this engine, used 1.6, used 1.8 and then exhaust manifold and everything else that goes along with it.

without reading the thread or knowing any backstory, that sounds (and LOOKS) like an exhaust leak to me.

and I HATE your drain.

This might be a dumb question, but why would oil spraying be a sign of an exhaust leak?

Brain,
I found adapters on BEGi, which is where I am assuming it came from.
AN Adapters / Fittings - BEGi

I'm guessing I have the "1/8 NPT to -4 Adapter, 90*". Could I just change it to a "1/8 NPT to -4 Adapter "?

EDIT:
Or maybe it is the "Oil Drain Fitting -8" That may make more sense than the -4.

I have a new video and data log.
I did find an exhaust leak. The rear studs on the manifold/turbo were loose. Also, there is some oil leaking from the oil drain fitting.

I took this video after fixing the exhaust leak. The car nearly stalled a couple times and sounds pretty rough. The data log was recorded at the same time as the video.

Thanks, Brain. Anyone else have any ideas about the engine noise/stalling?

It sounds valvetrainish.

Can you localize the sound? Louder from above or below?

With the oil leak, how low did it get?

If and when you pull the engine, make sure you get a coolant reroute in there.

The oil is still about full. I have a stethoscope and I can't pinpoint it from the top or sides. I have not tried the bottom.
