I just installed a skunk2 tb on my vvt motor on my because I don't want to snap another tb shaft during a track day. This thing always sticks open when trying to drive at paddock speeds or driving in town. If I blip the throttle fast it will shut all the way when I let off the gas.
I can manually move the tb shaft and if I let it back to closed slowly I can visually see that it won't shut all the way.

Does anyone have a solution? Do I need to scotch Brite the butterfly/tb?

I can't advance the stop screw anymore because it will idle too fast.

I had to install a helper spring on my bbk tb. It attaches to my strut tower and assists in fully closing the throttlebody.

Honestly either fix what's causing it to stick (not more spring, actually fix whatever is CAUSING it to stick), or replace it with a throttle that does not stick. Sticking throttle is one of the most dangerous failures that can happen on a vehicle. Not something to goof around with.

It's not stinking open. It just won't shut all the way (by a millimeter) it's a brand new skunk2 tb, I waited 6 months to get it, it was back ordered. What a dissapointment.

If it's new, I'd send it back and get one that's not broken.

You may need to adjust the cable and check to make sure the cable is not binding.

It's not the cable, I can make the throttle not close all the way by moving it by hand with no cable attached.

I think they are in back order again and I have a few track days to do. If there is ano easy solution, i'll fix it.

Check that the screw used as a throttle stop isn't backing out. If it is, loc-tite it.

Good idea, I'll locktite it. But this is not the problem, the TB will shut all the way sometimes. This is an intermittent problem, if the screw was coming out, the butterfly would never close. I think I'm going to install the stock tb back in it and send this one back. Hopefully the stock tb won't break until I get my new one.

Get a new one. I would talk to s2 directly. Don't send it back until they have a new one for you.

Close the throttle plate all the way and loosen one of the screws that hold the plate to the shaft, remove one at a time and loc-tite them. Before fully tightening the screws back, move the throttle back and forth a few times let it snap back into place and tighten the screws. It could be your plate is just off-center from where it needs to be in the bore. Also, you may want to call S2 and inquire if you should do this or send it back for them to do.

Sounds like a 1st gen spring problem. IIRC the original springs kind of bound a little in the cam, and it does what the OP is describing until the finger breaks off the end of the spring and then it really doesnt return.

That's what I first thought, but he just got it in the latest batch. Mine is from last year's stock and it works just fine.

I was just wrapping up my Skunk2 install and I found an issue with the screw lengths. The screw on the upper right (looking into the TB) was too long. It was bottoming out in the intake manifold hole. I ended up taking off about 4-6mm the screw to get it to torque down. This throttle body came from the latest batched shipped back in March-April.

Its pretty common for the billet skunk2 throttles to stick on the Hondas. The **** is all from China. I guess its the same for these Miata throttles.
