I'm thinking about painting my manifold/ turbine/ DP with 2000 degree VHT header paint. How durable is this stuff? Is my life gonna be filled with the stench of burning paint everytime I drive my car?

i painted my manifold with the same stuff. it wasnt too bad... a few spots flaked off, but that could have been from contamination. and the burning paint smell went away after a few days. lol

ill probably be getting my new manifold im making ceramic coated though for durability

It will Look like herpes about a month after with rust spots here and there. The header paint seems to work well for heat shield covers but not directly for headers.

You can get pretty good results if you do...everything. Sand blast it, acid wash, and what not for prep work and bake it after to cure it but my last attempt didnt work.

It's all in the prep. I talked to Ari (99mx5) about his and how it lasted for over a year of track days with only minor chipping, and he confirmed that it came down to prep and application.

I'm doing mine the same way he did his. Since my car is street only I should be fine for some time.

I hear you guys on the need for proper prepping. I think I'm gonna do this on my manifold and turbine. Everything else is stainless, so I'll just leave that stuff alone.

I painted mine with 1200 BBQ silver, it definitely doesn't smell, but it does look faded. It's actually kinda interesting, cause you can see where the most extreme heat is. The head flange looks great still, but the turbo flange is black.

Paint it mine with some high temp pain from vatozone. It looked for some time now it's just meh
