Default 60-2 Trigger wheel mounting questions

So I'm (finally) in the assembly stages of my new motor. However I'm unsure of the mounting of my 60-2 trigger wheel for my Tec-2. This is a BP4W going in a 91 miata, OEM ecu isn't in the picture, nor is a swap to a different ECU at this junction.

Most important question right up front: How thick is the OE or TSE wheel?

Here is the assembly of bits I have

The middle right is an aluminum spacer that I could use to stack the wheel in front of the pulley as you normally see.

However, I do have access to a local machine shop and could have them machine the trigger wheel to nest between the pulley boss and the pulley itself. My concern with this is the thickness of the wheel is notably thicker than the (missing in this setup) OE trigger wheel.

referencing: TEC and ATI damper - MX-5 Miata Forum

It seems like they thinned down the mating surface of the trigger wheel to keep everything flush. However they did this for an ATI damper and not the OE piece. Is this required or will the marginal offset not be an issue for belt alignment? The TEC-2 wheel is about 1/8" thick. How thick is the OE or TSE wheel?

Anyone that has gone to a different toothed wheel had any problems with belt alignment or fitment?

Thoughts?
