Default How Big is Too Big

This isnt a question of what turbo to use or anything like that, just wondering as to what everyone's opinion on how big is too big for a turbo on our cars?

Ok I'm liking the obvious answers.

Now for actually Miata(read a turbo that is not half the size and or weight of the car or bigger) applications.

That's more like it, although I think those are about half the size of the motor. I had a VT50(fig is comparable to the gt55?) and it is freaking HUGE, got it for $10 tho, thinking about making a homemade jet engine out of it.

You do realize you're asking about the stupidest thing.

"What spark plugs should I not run?"
"What size alternator belts should I not run?"
"What grade oil should I not run?"
"What size IC should I not use?"

etc....

That all goes down to what you want, and how your motor is built.

Drag racing with a built motor. The sky is the limit.

Stock motor. Some have used the GT3071. But on stock you can't run crazy boost for long, you will have to much power.
Teh car will some lag with turbo's like that.

If you want it streetable on stock internals, most usually go with GT2554 GT2560-Gt2871, or T3.

But any turbo is better than no turbo. ( I'm sure someone will post a weed eater turbo after that coment) LOL.

Hey, didn't you read the question?

The guy does NOT want discussion of specific turbos.

He wants:

Good turbos for our cars are generally between the size of large grapefuits and medium-sized cantaloupes. Some that are even the size of honey dew melons are ok, but will be laggy.

Yeah WTF with offering good advice and using specific examples to illustrate your point? Did you READ what the OP said?

I didn't complain about the gt55's you were posting, just the house and one car sized one's you posted.
