I have searched both this site and M-net about compatible oil pumps to use on my early 90 short nose. I located a thread on M-net that had no other posts in response to it, which is copied here:

i am doing a rebuild on my 90. but i have found it really hard to find the right oil pump. but after a few weeks and some wrong pumps, i finally found the right one.

so, for anyone else looking in the future the right pump is:

ITM auto parts. part number 057-1009

the part can easily be found on ebay for cheap, but it doesn't actually say it fits the miata. but thats the part number for anyone looking in the future.

Can anyone verify if this is correct? I would like to make sure that pump will fit my small nose before I purchase it ( I really hope it is correct, because I found a couple on Ebay for about $180 less than the next best price I found searching for my actual vehicle year/engine!).

I realize this ones pretty old, but was curious what happened with this. I am picking up a block from a '90 and hope to put the long crank from my 92 in it, and was wondering if i could also swap my oil pump from the 92, or if i needed to pick up an oil pump for the 90. I assume its based on the crank, since the blocks should be identical.
