Default Advice on new build

I am new to this forum and decided to build my miata. i have a 99 10am 6speed bone stock. i was wanting to build up the turbo and slap a turbo on this thing. i was a mechanic for 5 years before i joined the Corps so i am mechanically capable but unless it is a ford 5.0 i dont know crap as far as what works and what brands to go with.
i dont have a specific budget as of right now because i wont be home for 2 more years. any one have a good build or ideas. a parts list would be great. also i am new to the miata performance world so as few abbreviations as possible would be nice

I think the general recommendation is to search rather than ask such a generic question. I would start with the stickies.

Dallas is a hotbed of Miata activity. Abe (ARTECH) is located there along with a lot of other race-oriented Miata businesses. There's a forum for DFW enthusiasts.

BTW, I think your spell checker doesn't like 10AE. Keeps changing to 10AM in your posts.

havent been able to get on in a few. let me narrow the help a bit. right now im looking to start by beefing up the bottom end. does anyone have recommendations on a build that does not require any honing of the cylinders or point me in the direction of a 99 miata build. from what i have read. new pistons, connecting rods, and hardware is a good place to start.

I'm normally just a lurker, but I'll try and throw you a bone: you probably won't get many replies here given how completely vague your request is. All we know is you want a turbo. Some goals would be a good start as well as the purpose of the car. Also your request for a "build thread" and "parts list". This just tells everyone reading that you are looking to be spoon fed rather than simply searching, which would quickly turn up an entire section of nothing but build threads. I'm sure there are a couple of those containing parts list...
Hope this helps.
Good luck!

Dude, if you won't be starting this build for 2 years then you have time to read. And if you can't find part lists or build threads then just delete your account now to save the mods the trouble of banning you.

I agree with this.

You can read pretty much all the active build threads currently in just a few months.

That will give you not just an idea, but ALL the information you will need.

Yeah but with how the availability of EFRs have been lately he might need to order one now to make sure he has one when he gets back if he wants to turbo to get all the glory with.

Respectfully, you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to EFR availability. I can ship an EFR6258, EFR6758, or EFR7064 0.92a/r twinscroll on Monday.

If you wanna spend a little more money than a basic eBay turbo set up run a Flyin' Miata kit. $5,300 but well worth it. Comes with the Garrett turbo, Hydranemasis standalone ECU, bunch of other good stuff. I'm using a Greddy Profec B Spec II boost controller only on 10 psi and it was dyno'd at 275 rwhp. It's a bit more money but like I said wellllll worth it especially the numbers it spits out.

You know 5.0's so 5.0 swap. It's easy. I made everything for mine myself with no prints, just photos and it worked out fine. Pretty much everything you need to know to DIY it is below.

I already built my 95 gt. I thought about it but I don't think I'm going to go down that road.
