High horsepower build

What the hell happened to this thread while I was gone?!
I've read his thread from beging to end. Plenty of gory things going on(now I understand the sawzall) the reason I said I appreciate him sharing his knowledge is because hes clearly done things multiple times based off his thread and by now id figure he knows the right way to do some things.
I guess it wouldnt hurt to look into a VVT head. I mean faster spool is a good thing.
I think im going to go ahead and make this my official build thread, so mods if its in the wrong section feel free to move it. Thanks
On to more about the car and its current stage.
1993 bone stock with 60k. I am the 2nd owner. First owner(in his 60's) kept it as a weekend car and never drove it in the rain.

Get a 3.6 ring and pinion before you put it in the car. Also pick up the correct speedo sensor.
Look at solomiata.com to see which sensor you need.
3.6 r&p + decent amount of HP + 8000 RPM = driveable yay

Well OP, you are showing some potential, good for you. Hopefully your build turns out as cool as the planning looks on paper.
Interesting.
For some silly reason I was under the impression that they were not the same. Someone told me before that the vvt doesn't flow as good up top but makes more lowend. But that could be contributed to the terrible IM I guess. So basically vvt head + bp4w mani with operational vidcs = the best of both worlds?
I plan to go with a honda mani either way, its just nice to know that you're not really "giving up any topend" going vvt.
VVT head is identical to 99 head in terms of flow, just has VVT. and playing with VVT can have huge effects on spool. So, personally, if I'm building a head, I don't see why you would invest money into anything but VVT head.
I'll be keeping the 99 intake manifold thouhg, because VICS > VTCS. And possibly an aftermarket IM in the future.

Can anyone that has switched from a 3.9 to a 3.6 elaborate on the difference? Is it really that big?
Also how hard would it be to change the ring and pinion?
I read up on solomiata about the speedo sensor an still don't know which sensor I need to get?
Does anyone have the Honda S2000 setup mentioned on solomiata?

Anyone can tear a car apart, putting it back will be the real test.
Interesting.

Dem768 has one but he's finishing his new setup and will dyno soon (hopefully).
The 3.6 vs 3.9 is an improvement, but nothing insane like Fae makes it out to be. If you know how to set backlash/etc it shouldn't be too hard, otherwise people mentioned its like 4-500 to get someone to do it. Meaning you'll be close to 1k into it all said and done. I'm not sure its worth that much money to be honest. Bottom line is: miata gearing sucks for big power: you either end up with way short gears or a way weak driveline. OR you end up paying out the wahoo for baller custom stuff.....

Maybe later on if I feel the need to switch to 3.6 I'll look into it but for now I think I'll be fine with the 3.9. It's not my daily so I don't mind being in higher higher rpms and getting a few less mpg.

Rear ratios all depend what you have in mind for the car, if its a daily then sure 3.6 would be good for cruising, nothing wrong with a 4.1 and 300+whp though. Then again I'll be going to a 4.77 next so my opinion may be biased.
