Default How to pass nj inspection with no cat?

Hey guys, I bought my car straight piped. And after putting a turbo on it is still straight piped. My inspection isn't til next year but I'm curious how to pass NJ emissions without any cat? I'm catless but I don't have any cel's either. Am I going to have to buy a cat and weld it in somewhere? (Cause the kid before me did a full custom setup with his own bends so no original flanges) or is there a way to pass?

You should really have a cat. They are awesome. I mean you are on a cat website right now.

Is the car OBDI or OBDII? Is it a tail-pipe test? If so, is it at idle, or on a dyno? What modifications does the car have?

Cut the pipe, weld in flanges, add cat. I seriously doubt anyone made a flange-less exhaust, manifold to tailpipe. All you'd need is some flanges with the right pipe diameter. Any muffler shop could handle it.

got megasquirt? if so, just run autotune in the idle areas while you're at emissions. you'll pass no probs if your idle valve settings are good. otherwise, have fun wasting money without a cat

If the car is supposed to be OBDII, they will only pass it in NJ if they can connect and get good readings. If the base manufacture date was prior to OBDII they do a tailpipe sniffer.

What are the tests in NJ? OBDII just has to plug in? If you have a working OBDII port and no codes you're in the clear there. If you have to pass the sniffer, tune it decent for e85 and it'll pass with flying colors.
