Will this fit our fuel system hardline? I want to go from the fuel hardline to a -6 AN fitting on a 2000 Miata. Although there are a bazillion different style EFI quick disconnect fittings there seems to be only one style of hardline, albeit in different sizes.

Two tips

If the connector is wobbly, take the plastic sheath out of the factory connector and put it in the adapter

I had to SLIGHTLY sand the portion of the tube outside of the bump to get it to slide on in my 99.

Maybe you got 3/8 instead of 5/16 fitting?

No, 8mm is .315" and 5/16" is .3125" so just slightly tight. I took off the coating, so maybe .001" per side or so.

Hate to bump an old thread but I'd rather post here than start a new thread.

I just tried installing one of these tonight and if I yank really hard it comes off. I bought the Russell ones, not sure if this is common for this type of connector but it seems really unsafe to me. Is this fairly common?

That's a little scary. How hard did you have to pull? I haven't ordered mine yet, but I plan to use it for the fuel rail and fpr at the tank.

Are you sure you've got the 5/16" one?

Lets just say it was way too easy to even feel comfortable about pressure testing it. Definitely a lot easier than pulling the hose off my fuel filter.

Dumb question: you have it clipped over the bead/flare/whatever on the line, right?

Yeap, if I didn't you'd bet it'd slip right off. I think that the reason why mine slips off so easily is that if you notice in the instructions they give you, the barb has a square face for the seat to push against so it doesn't come off. AFAIK (at least mine is) the Miata one is rounded so with a little bit of force you can get it to unclip.

I ended up getting a tube nut fitting and flaring the hardline. Although a bit of a PITA to do it inside the car, I trust it a lot more.

What size did you end up using? Just a standard AN-6 37* flare? Or did you get all fancy and order some pimpy parker fitting to actually have 8mm?

Bringing this thread back as I was about to order Russell/Fragola fittings to transition my 5/16 hardline to -6 an hose (for my aeromotive FPR).

Is the hard line flare different on NBs? If not these fittings, what? I know compression fittings are no good on EFI.

Scratch that ... didn't realize the 99+ had spring connectors on the rails. Looks like I'm using a Parker tube nut/sleeve

Dont forget to need a 6mm to -6 adapter, NOT a 5/16 to -6. I tried 5/16 and the olive was a mouse nipple too small to fit over the line. I'm sure it would work fine with a flare adapter and that is on the agenda.
