Default 2000 1.8 engine suitable for engine build?

Have a 05 MSM, and want to build another engine that'll just swap in/out... may sound like a dumb question but I found a cheap 2000 1.8 BP engine, will that work? is there a magic engine combination that works best? i.e certain year of block with head, etc... input would be great, thanks, O

The MSM block has the oil/water ports on the driver side.

You can't add the ports. you can run water/oil from other locations tho.
