Default Found a really cheap GT3776R - any feedback?

Anyone use one of these on our little motors? Expecting some bs spool time but I'd like to hear it from you. Can't seem to find much when searching...

I'm running the GT2860RS to it's limit as is.

How cheap? If it is cheap enough might be fun to pick up and just throw on to see how it goes.

I've driven a 30r bp and it hits hard at around 5.
I've driven a 35r bp and it hits shortly after (5500-5700ish?)
So a guess would be that this thing would be cookin by 6k. Which gives you roughly 1-1.5k worth of powerband. If you're going for a highway queen or plan to rev to 8 you might pull it off. Would be interesting to see the results lol

Post full specs for a "better educated guess"

Better yet, ask faeflora where he see's full boost or get him to send you a log of his current setup. He's probably around that size turbo now

I have a customer with a genuine 3076, hitting full boost (29psi) at 4000rpm. He called me the other day as he wants to upgrade to a 3782. I was skeptical at first, but the maps looks good on that beast.

To clarify, I wasn't referring to peak boost when I said 5k, but peak torque. And this was on a chinacharger, so a genuine will probably hit sooner and harder.

Well problem solved. I'll trade him turbos. Make that happen?

DO IT!!!! You will need to spin the motor a little higher but seeing your signature you can do that no prob. Faeflora is spinning his to 8k with stock head no problem. That turbo will come in like a train in high rpm. I am slightly bias because I like a bigger turbo over a smaller one anyday.

The problem in my book is... I appreciate a Miata for what it is capable of outside of the straight lines. I love being able to come out of corners hot and the quick response of the current setup.. Might just do intake manifold research and figure out how to fix my torque dropping off up top.

honda mani + 2871 or 3071. done.
37r is just not going to be good for anything but straight line on a miata. imo

my gt3076 setup has a pretty flat torque curve from 4k onwards, 20+psi before 4k, and good response.. big turbos are not the devil not sure how big one can go before it affects driveability badly tho..

Your car/setup is awesome, but a 37r is quite a bit bigger than a 3076.
I could be wrong on this, but I doubt it.

A GT3076R is NOT a big turbo for the last time.

OP there is better options then a GT3776R, even for 'cheap' IE $700-800 dollar range there is a few Borgwarners that will outperform it. Look into this turbo:

Eating that GTX3071R's ***!

See my videos for 1st and second gear samples. Small turbo guys who ride in my car at lower speeds say it is very peppy.

Mine's bigger!!!!

Totally wrong. My car can still turn and is lots of fun coming out of a turn in second or third gear. I am not a track guy but if I wanted maximum track power though I would probably go for a 62mm turbo and run e85 or race gas and more and go for 600hp.

OP I ran a GT3071 for a few years and it was a lot of fun but it wasn't enough power for me. It was fast but not faster than god and I did lose a couple of highway races.

The 3776 is not that much bigger. Go for it and you can probably make a solid 450hp. Much more fun than where you are now but a bigger turbo will be even more fun.

Here's spool data:

1st: 9psi @ 8000RPM
2nd: 20psi @ 8000RPM
3rd: 33psi @ 6500RPM
4th: 33psi @ 6000RPM
5th: 33psi @ 5800ishRPM

33psi is max boost. Would probably hit 40psi at that RPM too. Will find out.

Note that my 1:1 gear is 5th since I have a six speed.
