Default TDR-style DIY intercooler

I am in the process of finishing up my DIY over the rad intercooler setup (TDR style)...

This is the link (with many pics and info about the ic itself) to the topic in mx5nutz.com I have started in case anybody wants to do the same...

http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.p...pic=52519&st=0

I need to fab the piping in the next few days, but that's the easy part

Are you going to lower the radiator?

I have already lowered the radiator and the ac condenser, by moving the lower brackets and bolting them, where the sway bar is mounted...I don't think i would be able to run the pipes over the rad without doing so (it is pretty much the same thing as in the TDR setup ...only thing is that you have to drill a new hole to each bracket, because the bolts at the sway bar mount are closer to each other)...

all you have to do is download the tdr manual and do thinking needed. should order one of gery's radiator coils to go with your dropped down radiator.

Thats exactly what I did with my setup, its funny how well those brackets mount up there.

Jeff, I did pretty much follow the tdr manual in my install...that was the easy part....the difficult part was to find the ic itself...I was lucky enough to find the one I bought in UK (so avoided any custom fees by have it sent to Greece), but on the other hand it was longer (so have to improvise for the piping), and also it has a bar and plate core, and not a tube and fin, so there is a big question regarding the airflow to the rad and the condenser....I intend to have 2 temp sensors installed (one before and one after the ic) to see how efficient it is in lowering the temps...and of course I will take some logs before and after connecting it to the supercharger to see how much pressure drop it causes....

here is an update (copied from the other thread )

I just came back from the shop, where I had the ic piping made...

All I can say is that everything went really well, and in about 4 hours everything was ready

Here are some pics..

first impressions are really good...there is only a slight drop in pressure (slightly more than 1 psi), but the butt-dyno says that there is no difference in power...obviously lower intake temps help getting knocksense out of bussiness
I also didn't notice any lag , although the ic is significantly larger than TDR's...

As far as the actual drop in temp is concerned, I am planning in installing 2 temp sensors, one before and one after the ic to measure the difference, sometime in the next few weeks

Is that stainless steel piping? For the piping did you just by a kit of various bends and weld it together or is this all bent and fabbed by you? I have my IC (TDR Style)ready for piping and was just wondering as I am having trouble getting a capable shop.

it is stainless steel and was fabbed by an exhaust shop (welded bends together with tig, and then polished them)
