Default Installed my Fab9 COP kit

I know these are a pretty ripe topic around here. So i'll share my story.

When Bryan first started putting these together i told him i wanted a set. I also told him i wanted it PnP. That's exactly what he did and then some.
Because he was swamped with orders i told him to put mine on the back burner and get them to me when possible.

So Bryan drove down to my house tonight to install them tonight. It only took probably 20 minutes tops to get the old stuff out and the new stuff in. Everything went on completely PnP. I still have yet to do some wire management and mount the ignition module. Which may take a few minutes of custom work.

Installed the Denso Iridium plugs and stuffed the coils on top. They ARE a tight fit. They are MORE of a tight fit than the stock plug wires are. The car fired right up and ran fine. It idled as good as my tune allowed it to. I set the dwell to 2.5ms in megasquirt. Obviously i'm not going to go drive it, but i did hit the spark cut and built a little boost.

Nevermind the injectors and a little piston slap.

How much of a discount did you receive for advertising a non-paying merchant?

LS coils will not run correctly on a stock ECU, the Fab9 cops will. To me that is the only benefit that they have over the other competition. If you are running a 99/00 with crappy stock coils, and sticking with the factory ecu, then the Fab9 might be a good deal. Otherwise to me they seem like a waste.

I ran Toyota COPs on my factory '99 ECU for years without a problem.

Did you read the post i made? He came to my house and installed them. Just to add, i was the guinea pig for the PnP kit for my model year. We weren't quite sure if my tach would work, but it does. No fiddling around with it.
I'm not advertising ****. Buy it, or don't. I don't give a ****, i'm not seeing any money if he sells more or less of these. The point of the thread is to post what i got. That is all.

They're plug and play. That's what i wanted. I don't want to waste my time doing something i can pay someone else to do. I'm more than confident in these COP's ability do do everything i want. You can bet your *** i'll be right back here with followup if they don't. The "merchant" was just as good as any other merchant i've used. Except go miata, they can suck it.
Edit* A couple more reasons i decided on this kit (not that i have to justify my purchase with you guys). I wanted new components. If you read my build thread, i DID buy toyota COP's and i didn't like the hacked up wiring, and the ghetto mounting system. Same with the LS truck coils i was going to buy. I wanted something new and PnP. I guess FM big spark kit? That's big money. Which brings me to my next point. These were priced very nicely compared to other kits on the market.

I don't want this to turn into a bunch of bullshit, lets be adults here for a second. If you have questions, i can try my best to answer them. If you have nothing good to say, why not just keep it to yourself?

if by don't i mean a rubber gasket that over time will be suspectable to high temps, oil, and vibrations that will fatigue and fail, then yes.

In 50k miles, when the rubber "wears out" i'll report back.

I just went and popped the COP's off my bike with one finger, they are significantly looser than these. If it's so bad why do OEM manufactures use them without a some other type of mounting systems?

Come on man. Now you're just scratching at the bottom of the barrel to find something bad to say.

no, I'm not. Here's ill say something nice: This is a great price for the AEM 4-coil driver and CDI Pencil Coils in a PNP package.

I'm actually now concerned about how loose the coils on my bike are. They are exceptionally easy to pop off.

Either way, i hope this puts an end to this specific debate.

I don't think the bike vibrates as much as the BP, but I have no idea.

And overall I agree with you Erat: haterz gonna hate. Everyone says we should use toyota or GM cops and yet there is NO pnp 01+ kit out besides this one, so everyone can suck it.

I came in expecting a hate parade. Was not disappointed. The sound good for 99-00 cars with the shitty and expensive coils. I dont see the point for anything else. If you're not running enough boost to get spark blowout run stock coils for free, if you are, run truck coils, either $200 to DIY or $$$ to flyin miata. The FM big spark kit is PNP for the 01+, but stupid big money.

I really doubt that this kit is PNP for 01+ cars. The holes for the spark plug boots in the VVT valve cover are a whole bunch smaller than the other valve covers and there's all the other **** in and around the coil area as well.

Erat: Thanks for the drama-free feedback. Are the pencils actually screwed into the terminals at the tops of the plugs?

What's with the "He's not a vendor! rabble!rabble!rabble!" hate? 18psi is not a vendor and he's sold a shitload of parts through the FS section, I'm not a vendor but I moved a pile of laptops through the Other Stuff section, and we don't seem to be shitting on the guy building seat frames, so what gives?

Obviously LS2 truck coils are king of the pile. We all (subjectively) know this. If the stock coils are so terrible, why do we not **** on everyone who bothers using them? If the Toyota COPs are now inferior, why are we not shitting on people selling Toyota based kits? If the LS1/LS7 coils in the FM "BigSpark" kit are so inferior, why do we not **** on these as well? I guess I just don't understand the hate.

Well its quite different when you're just parting out cars, Bryan is actually putting out brand new products in mass quantities.

But who cares because he already applied to be a sponsor so everyone will be happy now

PS: for what its worth, we could not get GM coils to not blow out past 21psi on Ryans beast. No matter what we did. Maybe he wired wem wrong or something, but he went through 2 sets and like 3 or 4 wiring harnesses and still no bueno past 21psi
