While I'm waiting for my MSPNP I'm going to give my hand at DIY cool air intake. I was thinking something maybe dropped and short. (dropped maybe from the intake manifold near the fan). would it be safe to move the MAF sensor? or can I do the swap to IAT sensor with the stock ECU? any advice is good advice.

I'm new to Mazda please be kind I only know old Saturns.

I wouldn't put my intake behind the radiator. I would ditch the MAF and just run the MS map sensor and the GM IAT in the intake pipe.

Your car has a fresh air intake port under the driver/exhaust side head light. It's fed from the mouth of the car on that side, up over the fender liner to the hole under the headlight. Box that in and you're golden.

pm'ed, I'm thinking of keeping it N/A for sometime now. I'll still order the ECU But I think i'll keep the turbo project for next year when I'm done with college

And how the hell do you plan to install a MSPNP onto a 2000 miata smart guy? They make them for 90-97 only so far.

Just curious, is the tubing for that intake smooth on the inside? I always wondered if the corrugations would create turbulence that would affect air flow; especially when compared to a smooth design.

The flex hose is not smooth on the inside. I would expect that a smooth intake would have better flow, and I eventually did make intake piping from silicone and aluminum elbows. That hose is commonly used on hotside and coldside supercharger kits. I don't supply the hose, it was what I used on my coldside kit when I had it.

That seems like a ridiculous amount of hose... it looks like it's coming from behind the motor...
