Default VVT 01 Coil wiring into MK1 1.6

Hi guys

I'm struggling to get my head round how exactly I wire in the 01VVT coils into my MK1 1.6 harness as part of my VVT engine swap. I've read on here I need to bypass the OEM ignitor? How exactly do I do this, ie which wires need to be bypassed/connected and where do I do it? Also how then do I get a signal to my rev counter? (I'm running a Reverant MS2 Enhanced with added VVT control).

Thanks

Chris

you'd follow the toyota cop writeup and just ignore the tach output wire as the NB coilpacks dont send the signal out.

Thanks Braineack - Just looked up your post https://www.miataturbo.net/useful-sa...writeup-12704/ I now think I have my head around it. I need to speak to Reverant now to confirm how I get the Tach output from my MS2 ecu to my Rev counter.

Tach output is available on pin 19 on the top connector of your ECU.

You can send it to 2I on your ECU harness, and then make sure to connector the wht/black and y/blu wires at the ignitor and you should be good.

Brilliant, thanks guys. I'll add a wire to pin 19 on the top connector on Reverants harness and connect it to 2I on the original OEM harness connector and join the blk/white and yell/blue wires together at the ignitor.

Reverant in Tunerstudio, I go into the extended menu and go to tacho output, makes sure output is set to on, but what do I set the 'Output on' to? (IAC2, IGN etc)?
