Default Question for FM about Hydra

I looked on your website, and the information on the Hydra in one place said it fits all miatas, and in another that it fits up until '05. Am I reading this incorrectly. And if you don't have an ECU solution for the NC application, do you have plans to do so.

I hate to dignify this post, but..

This is not the FlyinMiata.net, com, biz, whatever forum. How about calling FM? They have a phone number right on the website.

NC owners....

Oh, and they usually respond pretty promptly to email as well.

It is a question of perhaps general interest on the vendor thread.

Per Hydra's website hydraems.com, the 06+ Miata application is currently under development, along with the 06+ exige, and the Evo X.

fooger - you're so helpful. We've gone soft around here. Whatever happened to the good old days of n00b hazing? ;-)

Thank's fooger I knew the answer was around someplace, but the people at FM haven't been reply to emails for about the last week.

When you tell someone "I want to drop about $6000 bucks on stuff" and they don't get back to you, you know they are not answering mail.

As for noob hazing, it's a bad idea until you know that the person in question doesn't know what they are doing/talking about.

FM is doing their "Summer Camp" at Road Atlanta this week. Probably swamped with preparations.

The culture around here has almost always been n00b hazing - usually good natured if you're not thin-skinned. If the n00b doesn't know what they are talking about, it's not hazing - it usually turns into beating up; I'm less a fan of beating up unless someone REALLY deserves it.

Sadly work is going to keep me tied down, otherwise I would have gone.

I built production flash systems back in the mid 1990's for a while, it should not be this hard to get a programmable ECU for a vehicle, but there is nothing for the NC which doesn't basically involve building one yourself. If I'm going to do that again, I'll apply for a job at Mazda.

LOL, I'm usually one of the first to jump a newB. Since this isn't a typical newb question, I thought it might be worth answering; but since it was easy to find the answer, maybe I should've answered in the style of Jeff Cieleski; giving the answer while also hazing the **** out of the newB:

"Houjian, for ***** sake, have you ever performed a search in your damn life? How many people on this board do you think actually run an NC? We don't know the answer, so for one of us to figure it out would take just as much time and effort as it would for YOU to figure it out. If you had half a brain, you would have checked hydra's website and found out with TWO ******* CLICKS that the NC ECU was under development along with ECUs for two other cars. Hell, if you had 3/4 of a brain, you would have called FM when soloracer suggested it. They probably phonesex hydra daily. Hey, I've got an idea: Why don't you call FM and figure out when they expect the NC version to be released, then post back here."

But the problem is; I think Jeff would only really do that if the newB asked for information that was easily revealed through searching:

"Hey guys, I'm getting ready to buy my first Miata and I want to turbo it. What years are best to turbo?"

Back to real life:
Houjian, if you find out when Hydra will be releasing the NC version, please let us know.
As far as customer service, FM is the best compay I've ever dealt with. Unfortunately it's hard to answer emails when you don't have your email server/computer handy. They're usually gone for about a week each year during Christmas. This is one of the few times they're out otherwise.

I'm sure their Targa trip will also take a bite out of their attention. But then, that's one reason I am leaning towards FM: they eat their own dog food.

The Mazda ECU seems to be... ornate... compared to the simplicity I am used to with other makes. It isn't appealing to slap FI on a vehicle that I can't tune, and the idea of either piggybacking or paralleling with the NC seems to be asking for trouble.
