I just finished my timing belt/water pump replacement, and wanted to inform others and flyin' miata of my satisfaction with their tool kit. The cam tool worked perfectly to lock my cam gears, and the front main seal installer made me confident of a leak free instillation. After 5 hours the car is up and running, with no leaks and a happy temperature gauge. I would highly recommend buying their tool kit if you plan on doing a timing belt job.


oh, and the bottle opener works great.

Great set of tools, my only wish is that I had the tools years ago. My biggest worry is getting the crank bolt torqued, their little plate makes it easy.

Would you ever consider making the tools a rentable item that travels the continent? Most people use them once in 5 years. This would be a great service and you'd eventually pay for them and more. Sort of like the oil pan drain hole tool program going on here.

I asked fm if they would consider renting the tools out, especially if you bought their timing belt change kit, but I guess that didn't go anywhere.

The problem with "renting" tools is after the cost of shipping back and forth and a deposit it really is just cheaper to buy the set. I have the set and I am completely satisfied with them all.

I have a set of the old school fm tools and even a brainstorm crank tool. Got them back in '04 when I did the tb/wp and haven't used them since.

Surely a must for any miataer enthusiast's toolbox.

I didnt even use that piece; I just put on the pully, put the car in fifth, and torqued 5 times. Works well enough.
