Default Explaining Differentials to a Noob, Part 1

So, at work, I was still debating about the price for this torsen I have come across that is "somewhat" local to me. Anyways, as I am thinking out loud, another guy from work over hears me. He says he is confused so I can stop talking to him. Well, being the guy I am, I try and explain the concept of how a differential works and interacts with the entire drivetrain setup, and about the different types of differentials. During the course of my speech explaining the different types, I mention TorSen, and explain the Torque Sensing part to him. So, after apparently still not understanding, he pauses for a moment, looks at me intently, then when I can sense he is going to say something intelligent in return, he says this: "I don't understand you and your Cross-Dressing Differential" and walks away. Moral of the story, average people are stupid, but entertaining.

How about the point when you felt the need to brag about it?

it's less about making you feel bad for being smart, it's pointing out that people who state it like that tend to be overestimating/exaggerating/etc...

what would you say to me if i went around saying "i have a huge ****, i swear!"

what gets me are guys that dont know anything about a car. How to change oil or any of that....I know of few of those. To me thats crazy. Two things my dad taught me was how to work on a car, and how to work on my house. Those should be staples for any man to have learned or need to learn.

My .02
